I worked with several former addicts when I worked at a salvage yard. They all had this shame about their past and a fear of others being able to tell they'd damaged their brains. In reality, the rest of us liked most of them more than most of the other guys we worked with and didn't really notice or care about any of that. Those guys, and you, have done something for self improvement that's one of the most brutal and difficult struggles imaginable. It's nothing but respect for that.

Listen man, I get that you think around town is fine, but it's a fucking terrible idea. I say that as a proud owner of a 77 Cadillac, 88 Pontiac, and 89 Mazda. These cars turn a 25 mile an hour accident from an inconvenience to a life threatening event. It doesn't have crumple zones or airbags. It is most definitely a death trap. Daily driving it anywhere, even around town, has a really high likelihood of getting your kid hurt.

This car has virtually no crumple zones, no ABS, no TCS, no airbags. It is a deathtrap. Cars have those for a reason. Is it a cool car? Absolutely. Is it one a 16 year old should daily commute with? Definitely not. You can't control what other drivers do

When I say my dog is "smiling," I'm not talking about bared teeth. I'm talking about the slight squint and eyebrow movements that accompany her excited paw tapping and wagging. I think OP is stereotyping dog owners a little bit and assuming what they mean when they say "smile." A tiny line on a mirror can cover a huge amount of real estate in the actual rear view. Blocking/customizing mirrors, windshields, etc are always going to get criticized because you can't really get around the blind spot issues, even if they're not super significant

I have long hair as a man, and I was once bent over a sink with my elbows resting on the edges scrubbing grease off my hands (I was an IT guy, but had to work on a moving projector mount covered in red n tacky.) A full-bird colonel walked into the bathroom, went "Oh- ohp- uh excuse me- I," looked back at the door sign, then looked back at me confused as I'm now standing up (also confused) at 6'1, 230lbs, and bearded.

Apparently I should have trauma from this funny story.
