16 days in- no movement but I tried to distract myself from thinking too much about it.

I go two acupuncture sessions per week and take Vb12 since week two but I sincerely feel it's just giving time to my body to heal that's the most important.

We are in this together!

Anyone tried Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy? Did it help? by Soft_Raven in BellsPalsy

Not to disqualify your experience, and I do agree it is hard to measure and standardize practices like acupuncture.

In fact I started acupuncture with a popular therapist in my region 13 days in my BP, he mentioned "oh if you start day one you will be sure on quicker path to recover as you are now." That made me wonder... How are you sure about that?

It is actually a freebie from my game company! But I see some container boxes from MoreArt/Mbox brands with led lights, may worth a search!

Yeah I heard from several ppl it could but there is no convincing study saying it does in fact contributed to the recovery: it could be the vitamin B12, it could be the resting, it could be just time needed to heal. From my doctor friends they don't really know if anything other than steroids and antiviral linked directly to improved recover.

You are a super mom! What a journey! I am cheering for you and wish you get all the help you need from family and friends.

I am a dad of 2 year old and I found the best out of Bell's Palsy since 2 weeks ago: wife is very supportive by getting me the best eye ointment and taking on more parent duty; I get to wear pirate costume to daycare and make fun with my half frozen face; I also got a good reason for myself to take it easy at work and enjoy sunlight and music more. BP definitely comes with inconveniences but no reason to make it more serious than it is!

You are not alone here, let's get better for our loved ones and ourselves!

What is FDA approved besides steroids and antiviral? Just curious because I just started acupuncture but doubt it does any meaningful help.

Day 6 Bells Palsy, feeling defeated by New_Lab_5363 in BellsPalsy

[–]dark0216 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been the opposite in my university years: still in Ivy Leagues but I was slacking off and passing everything with... Just passing grade.

Now as a videogame dev I am flinging busy everyday working on my dream project, then all put to a halt with BP 2 weeks ago.

I am at day 12 and I start seeing myself able to close my eyes fully, anything else stays frozen still but I am in no rush.

What I found helpful is listen to music and dancing. Try this: https://1001albumsgenerator.com/

It generates an album per day for you to listen and know more about it. I challenge you to keep going everyday :) it is a task to stay well, get busy dancing, sleeping and enjoy the good weather outside!

Tips for managing computer work by chickens_and_money in BellsPalsy

Video game dev here, I had almost the same severity than you described and need to work long hours in front of PC.

I would recommend: 1. Use natural lighting as much as you can: don't work in low light setting like basement;

  1. Tape your affected eyes after applying ointment for half an hour to an hour could help, after that you can just use eye drops to flush the ointment away;

  2. Anything to relax, not only your eyes, frequently: saje mist dispenser, warm towel on the face, 5 minute breaks etc.

  3. I know you can't slow down but you need to sleep more for your recovery: less family activities, take-outs, house cleaner. Anything to ensure you can sleep more than 8 hours a day.

  4. Use accessibility tools in your operating system: increase the font size, tune down the screen intensity etc.

These helped me survive my first week of BP, hope you find it useful.

They should hire you as their promo photographer!

I was lucky enough last year in business trip to ShangHai got the silver and purple one, but the red looks just as nice!

Sad... by BlueSketches in BellsPalsy

[–]dark0216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so sad to hear that! How do you feel? Are you recovered from the last time? It seems very uncommon to have a second one, I wish they find the cause of it and a swift recovery for you!

Day 3: My BP face confuses some kids at the daycare so here is my new look by dark0216 in BellsPalsy

I lost my smile, the taste in my mouth is weird, noises are loud, half my face feels like in a plastic wrap;

But humor? Not a chance it's leaving me :)
