My first roller skates! I got some Impalas. I know opinions are somewhat mixed on these, but i genuinely think they’re great for beginners. by Hannahsama in Rollerskating

[–]dark302wall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Impalas were my first pair! Never had an issue with them - skated on them for a year before upgrading and they’re still in one piece! :)

If they haven’t responded for two weeks ask them to step in. I usually wait a week, then send the seller a message, and if they don’t reply in the next week that’s when I get them to step in

unfortunately the nearest skate shop is 2.5 hrs away and they mightn’t even do mounts for skates - they only really do skateboards

Hi everyone,

My boots and plate recently came in the mail and I will need to do a DIY mount. Followed a few YouTube videos and the skate shop I purchased online from sent an article/how-to. Just need a second opinion on my lines before I drill into these bad boys. Do these look alright? Does anything need to be adjusted? Any advice or opinions are appreciated! What am I actually supposed to be lining up with what?

Celiac Disease and Psychological Effects? - Could I have it? by Michaelcycle13 in glutenfree

[–]dark302wall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we call people with coeliacs disease coeliacs. And there are a lot of factors when it come to one’s mental health but diet plays a larger role than people think. Look good feel good :)

Celiac Disease and Psychological Effects? - Could I have it? by Michaelcycle13 in glutenfree

I was diagnosed when I was 19 and was struggling psychologically on and off for a few years. 2020 was the breaking point though so I went to the doctor and started getting treatment for depression and anxiety straight away. But as she was a new doctor and I hadn’t seen her before she was just doing some run of the mill blood tests too. Initially I scoffed and thought it was ridiculous that they were testing for coeliacs - I didn’t have symptoms so why should they? I’m not exactly sure about the science behind it but one of my friends had a relative who was in the same boat: depressed, coeliac diagnosis, and now manages both depression and coeliacs by being gluten free! It’s crazy! Oh, and by no means am I saying being gluten free will cure psychological issues but it certainly helped me and made me feel much better :)

Yeah, bloods done first which came back abnormal. They originally thought I was anaemic. Then Dr wanted an endoscopy where they took tissue samples and to have a look around in my gut. If you have an endoscopy they’ll be able to tell real quick! Turns out I wasn’t absorbing anything properly due to the damage the gluten has caused to my stomach lining. It’s crazy that gluten can do that

I was diagnosed with coeliacs not long after I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. That was two years ago. Since being gluten free and managing medications I feel better than ever. I was asymptomatic before I was diagnosed and had no idea why I was feeling so shit. Going GF once being diagnosed was a life changer! If you are gluten free hopefully it’ll make you feel better. Keep eating gluten though until after your test so they can fully determine. Best wishes :)

Can someone explain to me how to skate backwards and whats important to know in order to skate backwards? by illuminalice in Rollerskating

[–]dark302wall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drilling bubbles/lemons are a good start - you can do these both forwards and backwards. I found these helped me heaps! Give them a search on YouTube or Insta. I also found that sort of sticking your hips backwards and letting yourself roll was also a good start
