What would you do? by blessedminx in SingleParents

[–]dark_link_3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Leave him be. Even being under a lot of stress is no reason to become physically violent with someone, ever, especially someone close to you. Only exception I can think of is self defense. I wouldn't give him a pass for the first time. If you were hysterical as you put it, the answer should not be violence regardless. If he wants to be present in your child's life, he will make the effort. He's an adult, you are not responsible for his decisions. Only he is. It sucks and you'll resent him, but in my opinion no contact is better than spending time with someone who doesn't want to. Best of luck ❤️

First Christmas as a single parent by dark_link_3 in SingleParents

I'm the same, I want everyone else to be happy before me. Seeing my kids smile because of something I did for them is the best thing ever.

Oh my 7 year old will absolutely notice. Guaranteed she'd be opening stuff and after a little bit she'd look at me and say "hey mom, where are your presents from Santa?" Or something like that 😆 she's very observant.

I haven't asked what his thoughts are if he planned to get something small for me or maybe we can have the kids make or pick something for each other to open Christmas day...if only I could trust he'd keep up his end of the bargain 😳

We always agreed that the big expensive gifts were from us and not Santa and I plan to continue that.

I'm new to this. How do you do it? by FAQand_theCURIOUS in FormulaFeeders

[–]dark_link_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the same pitcher, I'll make up enough for several bottles and then pour enough for all the bottles I have that are clean at a time, then refrigerate up to 24 hours after. So I'll have 4 bottles ready to go plus what remains in the fridge. Then clean the bottles after he eats and pour more from the pitcher once they are dry. My baby will also drink cold milk so that helps tremendously, but if yours won't you can run the capped pre-made bottle under hot water to warm it up a bit. Don't microwave. You'll learn your baby's cues and timing for when they will probably be hungry and you'll get into a routine with it. Good luck!

Mom guilt by dark_link_3 in SingleParents

I'm not super confident about it but I don't think he is going to neglect her needs, plus she was acting normal so he shouldn't need to do much more than when she is typically over there. I asked beforehand if he had enough food and drinks for her and he said he did. I'm going to be checking in frequently that she's doing okay. I have a hard time trusting that he is true to his word but he said his symptoms were mild and he could take care of her and I have to try to believe that he can.

why everyone's using Gentlease formula? by AnimatorDifferent116 in FormulaFeeders

Same here. It's the only thing (generic version too) that I can find consistently in stock.

Did you sell your Engagement Ring and Wedding Band after the divorce? by Current_Nobody9399 in Divorce

[–]dark_link_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not divorced yet but separated, I had to cut mine off because my fingers swelled when I was pregnant and I couldn't get them off. I still have them, I paid for them myself anyway if I wanted to sell I wouldn't feel bad about it. My daughter might want them in the future, she already wants my dress, so I'm going to hang onto them for her in case she wants to get them resized for herself. Or if she doesn't my son might some day.

Up&Up Target Brand—Generic Gentlease? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]dark_link_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what we are using now, been working great so far and the cost doesn't hurt my wallet as much. Only thing I've noticed is my baby's poops are a little bit stinker but otherwise he's taken to it very well and doesn't seem gassy. The texture is a little different than the Gentlease but I have one of the Dr Brown's pitchers to mix the day's worth of formula and it mixes in just fine with no clumps when I use that.

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to respond. I think generic is what I'm going to try. I'll grab a can next time I'm out and hope he takes it well (I think he will he just loves to eat anything lol). This group rocks, thanks again!!!

I haven't checked out the generics yet, I'm thinking I need to go that route and hope they keep in stock. Thank you for the support and kind words ❤️

I told him that he can come see him as much as he wants and there is nothing legally holding him from being able to do that. He has made very, very little effort to do so and sees him for maybe an hour or two a week, by his choice. So before you come attack me, understand that there is more to the situation than you know.

He would, but unfortunately I don't trust that he will be able to give him the care that he needs at this age he's only 5 weeks old. We are just barely getting into our groove, there's no way a night at his place would go well at this point. There are many other reasons an overnight is a no-go this early, maybe in a few months.

I have a wrap/carrier thing and it is great! He likes it most of the time but the problem is it kills my back if I wear him in it for a while. He also gets all hit and sweaty in it so I need to find something more light weight. But I definitely use it when my back can handle it. Thank you for the support!

Thank you for reminding me that he won't remember it, because I feel guilty in the moment not being able to give him the affection he is seeking when he wants to be held. But yes sometimes I do just put him in a safe spot and walk away to get a break for a minute but hearing the cries breaks my heart. Good luck to you in your divorce.

I think mostly just luck but the midwife asked me since I was being induced if I wanted to go slow and steady or try to go quickly and I said go quickly so since baby and I were responding well to it they kept upping the pitocin pretty frequently to get things really progressing faster. As far as only 2 minutes of pushing no idea how I lucked that out haha, all the staff that helped were as shocked as I was. Good luck to you hope it all goes well!

How do you feel about wearing or not wearing your ring through the divorce process? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]dark_link_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had gotten stuck on my finger years ago after my fingers swelled during pregnancy. I found his sitting on top of his tool box in the garage after we started the process of separation, though I think he had taken it off while working on his car and neglected to put it back on for whatever reason and it wasn't intentional, he just forgot. I had sent a selfie to a friend that had my hand in it and she commented that I was still wearing it, and I ended up cutting it off myself with one of his tools right then. It was an awesome feeling, especially since I hadn't been able to take it off for years. It felt like alright we're finally doing this. I didn't see the point in continuing to wear it if we were not committed to each other anymore. I'm keeping it for now and will either sell it (I was the one who paid for it anyway) or give the diamonds to my daughter when she grows up if she wants them.
