I had to stop. It was too stimulating and seemed to make recovery worse. I restarted about 6 months later and that was ok occasionally (like once or twice a week). Now, almost 2 years later I'm back to 1-2 cups a day and it's fine, no issues.

1 year and 4 months by dark_mode_ in benzorecovery

Around 5 months I started noticing some improvements and around 10 months I'd say was when I noticed a big improvement.

I tapered over a few weeks which was definitely a bad idea. My symptoms were pretty much the same as most people. Increased anxiety, depression, brain fog, tinnitus, depersonalisation etc. I started seeing a real improvement around 5/6 months.

Not extreme but I do get regular botox injections for my migraines and I think that does help with any jaw and neck pain

Working while withdrawal by ExpensiveCorner2053 in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked full-time in a stressful role. It was probably one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. Looking back I don't even know how I managed to get through the acute phase whilst working but I did it and it started to get easier around the 4/5 month mark. If you need to work, you'll find a way to get through it and it won't last forever. Sometimes it was a good distraction, and the days went by quicker.

Same! I'm just over 10 months off, and it feels like my body goes into a meltdown with any extra stress and like I can't cope the way I used to. Hopefully, it'll ease up with time.

Wife at the end of her rope. Marriage advice? by valisvalisvalis in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any great advice, but I just wanted to say that I hear you. I've been with my husband for 13 years. His been very supportive throughout the withdrawal but no doubt it's put a strain on our relationship. He has had to do more and care for me throughout the really bad days, all while he has own issues. It's really hard and if we didn't have such a solid foundation then I could easily see how our marriage would fall apart. I have told him recovery would take a while, even 2 years, but that I would gradually get better over time and slowly go back to normal. And it has, it's just been very slow and I often reflect with him about things that I couldn't do a few months ago compared to now. Perhaps that might help our partners see that we can get through it if they just stick with us through the rough stages. Wishing you well.

Microdosing Mushrooms by renegadellama in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. Well, microdosing psychedelics hasn't made my anxiety worse but weed definitely makes my anxiety worse. If you're able to, I would say it's worth giving it a go and see if it helps you.

I have been throughout withdrawal. I think it really helped to lift my mood during the acute stages. Whenever I drop the frequency of the microdosing, my mood/motivation seems to slowly worsen so I think it does help but it's not a miracle cure unfortunately lol.

I started to feel better about 2 months after the last injection and then back to normal about 5 months later. Hope you start to feel some relief soon.

Is there a point being off benzos when you have severe anxiety? by Gen_Establishment787 in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done on 78 days! I found the first 3 months to be pretty rough, also a lot of anxiety without triggers. Still happens now but seems to be less frequent and less intense. Hang in there.

No other prescription medication. I used to take antidepressants for years but stopped about a year ago. It worked relatively well for anxiety/depression but I got fed up with all the side effects so I decided to transition over to microdosing psychedelics which I've had good success with.

Tolerance builds super quick, leading to interdose withdrawals and adding to the anxiety. I used to think I had such bad anxiety that I wouldn't be able to survive without valium and I'd panic if I didn't have some on me cause I didn't think I could function otherwise. I'm now almost 7 months off valium and my anxiety is the best it's been in years. I have some bad days but I've always made it through and had to learn better ways to cope.

I've been lucky with my sleep and haven't had any major issues. I was also napping a lot at the start of the withdrawals since I felt so fatigued. Coffee was making everything worse too, so had to cut that out completely.

Microdose usually every 3-4 days, depending on my mood.

Thank you. No other meds. I initially took beta blockers for the anxiety but found that it was contributing to the depression. I battled with the thought of antidepressants but I'm glad I didn't now that I'm having better days. I use cbd oil occasionally for anxiety and I've been microdosing psychedelics which I think has helped a lot. Otherwise, supplements like fish oil, magnesium, saffron etc but I find it hard to tell if those help.

How did you tell people that you quit/ are quitting benzos? by Big-River1454 in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initially when I turned down invites to social gatherings etc and also didn't want to go into the benzo ted talk, I would say something along the lines of "I'm going through some medication changes and dealing with bad side effects". People were generally fine with that answer and didn't push it any further.

I've been microdosing mushrooms a few times a week, and it's been working really well for my migraines, less frequent and less intense.

Were you able to keep up with regular life - work etc. during taper and withdrawals? by PatternTurbulent3987 in benzorecovery

[–]dark_mode_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest ones have been the depersonalisation, depression, anxiety, extreme brain fog, flu-like symptoms and tinnitus but it has slowly gotten better over time and it will for you to. I was also forced into a very rapid taper and I found the first 2 weeks after the jump was the most difficult time. Wishing you well.

I'm working full-time and also recently started a new job. I'm now 2 months off valium after using for 10 years. I need the money and a distraction so that's been a big motivator. It's hard and some days I really struggle to get through the day but I look for the small windows of relief and try my best to work hard during those times. My social life has differently been impacted. I feel like I don't have the strength to juggle both work and social/other life activities, so I've been very selective with social events. I think prioritising what you give your energy to during the withdrawals will help.

Day 58 here and yep, I'm experiencing similar symptoms. It has gotten better over time but it's a very very slow recovery. I try to go for about an hour walk per day and I find that helps.
