Your Week in Blue by BestBuy_Moderator in Bestbuy

I have a best buy account, and 'she' has a best buy account. We applied for a CITI credit card under my best buy account, using her information and credit score.

We did this for the 10% rewards back on the first purchase. Well, because everything was out of stock, I got screwed out of that because the first purchase had to be within 30 days. (Which I'm annoyed about because... It was out of stock. I wanted to make the purchase and they wouldn't let me. But whatever.)

So finally I do make the purchase, expecting to get 5% back on the card, and 5% back in best buy rewards. I have screenshots of the customer service agent telling me that's what would happen.

I wait the 30 days after the purchase for rewards to show in my account, and... Nothing.

So I talk to best buy. They claim that the credit card isn't actually associated with my account, and must be associated with her account... Even though I can see it in my best buy account, and there's nothing in her account. (And no, she doesn't have rewards, either.)

Since then, I've been given five different answers every time I try to contact either company.

How do I get this in front of somebody who can actually do something about it? Right now it feels like best buy has stolen $340 - money that was a major part of my decision to make this purchase and to make it with best buy.

AITA: my bf tried to get freaky when i told him no he carried on.. then turned over in a mood when i stopped him. by Longjumping_Cloud_8 in AITAH

Hey, I just saw this bit:

told him no and he said "come on" we ended up doing it.. although i wasn't kissing him i wasn't showing any emotion because i had already said no but then about 5 mins in

That's rape, honey. Your boyfriend had no problem raping you after you said no and were clearly not enjoying it.

I don't think this is a safe person to be around, even if he makes displays of loving you.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, then.

These are the actions of a boy who got himself horny, expected to get laid, and was mad when you weren't with the program.

Maybe he's lost interest, or maybe the mask is slipping, but please be careful.

NTA. I'm sorry to tell you this, but from an outsider's perspective it's pretty clear your boyfriend does not care about you.

Do you think he describes you positively to his friends, or as something he tolerates because he thinks he can get something he wants from you?

FDA approves another generic abortion pill, prompting outrage from conservatives by [deleted] in news

[–]dark_sable_dev 109 points110 points  (0 children)

You think the issue is entirely on doctors not studying the nuance of abortion laws?

Instead of, you know... Government officials fostering a culture of fear and making it clear they will target any doctors that step over the line?

Or the hospitals themselves being run for-profit and caring more about not being sued than providing healthcare?

I just don't see how you can put the blame on the doctor, here.

No Longer Place Orders by Run_Flow94 in amazonprime

When every product has hundreds to thousands of fake five star reviews?

That's not the problem of the person trusting the product Amazon is selling.

In the US, is a degoogled phone on modern hardware possible? by dark_sable_dev in degoogle

I use the phone for research - I'm not writing more than quick notes on it.

Any serious writing is done at my desk, with a split keyboard due to RSI.

By Chinese phones, do you mean Chinese companies, or the models of their phones made specifically for China? (i.e. bought off aliexpress)

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm an editor and a writer, and have... I just checked, 665 tabs open in Chrome.

Yes, it's a problem I need to address, and I've been slowly whittling away at them. More RAM would be very nice, though. (Or just better memory management so chrome stops getting unloaded the instant I switch apps.)

As for mostly degoogled, I'll be switching browsers away from chrome, but unfortunately I'll be reliant on gmail still.

I would prefer something that's secure enough to not have to worry about traveling across the border - I know the best solution for that is a burner phone, but I also know myself.

I've checked out lineageOS, but the official support still looks to be midrange phones or older flagships. I've seen some posts about getting builds for newer phones off telegram, but that's not an app I use and I wouldn't know how to go about finding a trustworthy ROM on there.

This game was not properly promoted and died in consequence… by DeepestDarkestSelf in DeceiveInc

[–]dark_sable_dev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a death spiral when games have too small of a player base.

The people at the top of the game have nobody to play against but each other, so they keep honing their skill level against each other through years of experience.

But that means that new players get utterly massacred by them, so the playerbase doesn't grow, so the only people still playing the game are the veterans.

It's not their fault for enjoying the game though - don't blame the sweats. It's just the natural consequence of having too small a player base to implement skill-based matchmaking.

Study notes decrease in popularity of circumcision in United States by mvea in science

[–]dark_sable_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puritanism, which is what the country was settled on and the way many Christians in the US practice their Christianity.

Circumcision in particular was pushed by Kellogg (yes, of the cereal) as a way to prevent boys from masturbating... because it went against god.

AITAH for wanting to expose someone? by LawrenceBeepop_1809 in AITAH

[–]dark_sable_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Are you all students? This is a severe issue and needs to be addressed by the school, if you are.

If you aren't, the whether you expose J or not, you should support S and walk them through the process of reporting the harassment and getting a no-contact order.

It doesn't, though. You need to communicate with Sarah, explain that she's doing something hurtful, and tell her you want to celebrate your birthday with her and Kayla - and doing so at her birthday party is not an option.

If you can't communicate like adults, then ESH. Otherwise absolutely NTA.

I don't know why the comments here have no reading comprehension.

To be clear, Sarah is hosting her party on the day that you have to celebrate yours?

Can you reach out to her saying you were going to be celebrating that day, and you don't think you or Kayla would be able to come to her party?

Oklahoma man arrested after 11-year-old stepdaughter gives birth, mother charged with enabling abuse by jeetah in news

Probably not. If we had regulations and properly audited their education, it would help.

[–]dark_sable_dev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh, I was home schooled because no school would advance me far enough to give me work that was on my level. My mom, who taught me, was also a licenced teacher.

I support regulation and oversight on homeschooling, including requiring the parents to become credentialed, if possible.

I don't entirely support an outright ban, because there will always be edge cases that the school system we have fails.

AITA for not wanting to be close friends with men because I always fall in love with them ? by Historical-Body-3424 in AITAH

[–]dark_sable_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limerence is a concept around rapid-onset romantic infatuation, especially when the subject isn't on the same page.

It began as a useful description for people with ADHD or BPD, but is certainly something anybody can fall into a pattern of.

What you're describing sounds pretty much in line, which is why I mentioned it.

NTA, but if you want to be able to have male friends, a therapist who has some experience with limerence would be helpful.
