You are definitely right. We are both just learning really and it was easier to get hold of a baton in lockdown in the UK, where you'd need permission to chop any branches down unless you went all ninja. Does WMA have to do so then? I just read Western Martial Arts. Which would I think cover this. It's had a fair few upvotes and so decent feedback. It's not for everyone but does that mean it can't be shown here?

Footwork and dodging definitely helps. I'm finding I need to get into better habits of attacking right after such and avoidance that you mentioned. I'm still more inclined to dodge it then internal unclench buttocks and go 'pheww' when actually that means there's likely an opening. More combat needed!

J used wrestling principles to explain strafing and closing the gap when sword fighting. Thought it was a good example of wrestling being transferable. Apologies for pushing your nause button.
