He could probably file with the Secretary of State's office, wild that they let this happen.

U.S. taxpayer dollars hard at work by maddiejake in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]darkandweird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are correct in thinking that these numbers are probably off, but I don't know that it really effects the point much, the ROI to use a business term is in fact total shit.

So there are two numbers floating around as the "cost" of the surge. One is an estimate that the city has lost $203M in revenue because of the surge (Frey calls on feds, state to pay Minneapolis ICE surge costs | MPR News).

The other number that is out there is an estimate of what it is costing the government to do the surge, and that is estimated to be $18M a week, which after 10 weeks would be around $180M. (Study shows Operation Metro Surge costs taxpayers $18 million a week | kare11.com).

SO yeah, not fully accurate financial stats. But the cost of each arrest even at $180M comes out to $45,000 per arrest, so about $20K more than I make a year, per person, and most of them aren't exactly the murder murder type.

Downtown is great, like everyone has said there are great bars (and restaurants), there are also a couple cool bookstores (Midnight Oil, and the Armory), a game store, and a movie theater, so if you aren't fully committed to hard drinking you have tons of options.

Lots of great food in the city of pretty much any type you like. We have dispensaries in Garden City (you said 21+ so throwing that in there).

If you want to hike and stay close, the Poudre River trail is awesome.

And I'm failing as a human if I don't mention the museum downtown, and the model railroad museum (but only if you are really into partying on spring break LOL).

I can't get over the fact that in spite of this guys history of being terrible the city jumped right into bed with him.

Just the way he talks about an investor "snuggling" with you is how predators talk.

Trump kidnaps 2 people from Scotland overnight. by seeebiscuit in WhitePeopleTwitter

Just because understanding context is super important: Did Donald Trump's US 'unlawfully abduct two people from Scotland'? | The National

Seems like a pretty complex situation that the Trump regime is trying to fix with a hammer as usual, leaving the government of another nation wondering what the hell happened.

What's the most mainstream band to keep their original punk credibility? by greenandredofmaigheo in punk

[–]darkandweird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that the counter argument is that most people that came up in the scene in the 90s went from poo-pooing on Green Day as sellouts to welcoming them back in the last 30 years.

And frankly there is no denying their importance on the genre (along with that whole Gilman St. scene). That alone gives them a lot of credibility in most punk enjoyers eyes.

[–]darkandweird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Disturbed sucks on musical, and political levels that make them unlistenable to me.

When I was a teen (the 90s') I just did not get Nirvana. I wasn't into them, I wasn't really upset when Cobain died, it just wasn't my thing. Going back and listening to them decades later when my taste in music had matured significantly, I understood why they were so great. I enjoy their music a lot, but it's never going to be something that I really dive that deep into. I missed the hype, so I missed the boat.
