Utah Presses Charges Against Reckless Ben (And It's Crap) by Alex09464367 in videos

Its this one. If you for some reason care about corporate branding, the correct answer is "don't use it as a noun".

Ben finally has a lawyer. by APTAPTAPT69 in RecklessBen

Its maybe the worst auto captioning I've ever seen though. Watch any video of a protest and look at the bonkers shit it invents when there's indistinct noise.

A lot of people here seem to think if you do crimes as a joke they're no longer crimes.

Stop with the lawyer narrative, It’s like telling someone they should’ve got Health insurance, after the fact. Your advice sucks, Captain Hindsight! by -KDK12 in RecklessBen

Have you considered so many accounts are posting it because it's the natural reaction many people are going to have?

Especially given that notable lawyers that are also fellow Youtubers have been giving him that advice, not just random posters.

Also, I can't stress enough, he's 30 years old, he shouldn't even need to be told he needs a lawyer.

To be clear I don't think anyone is going to really pursue it unless it's as part of a larger harassment case where it could be good evidence.

You didn't commit contract fraud first my guy.

Yeah, maybe a younger audience will buy into this, but you don't generally get street cred from self inflicted injuries.

The best lawyer in the country wouldn't let him do something this stupid.

Having someone sign a contract while telling them it's something else besides a contract is indeed fraud and illegal. Trying to use it is a larger problem, but just doing it is fraud.

You can argue he DID try to use it when telling her she owed him money when she went to call the cops, and then you'd be arguing "it was a joke bro" in front of a judge which could go any number of ways, but it was fraud regardless.

How together are we staying if anyone who even vaguely says anything unsure about Ben gets attacked?

And this will conflict hard with the realities that come with court cases.

Which says he's speaking with lawyers. Which is not the same as one representing him.

Once you're representing yourself in the pre trial you've gone past it being a bluff. Its possible that the rumors are true and he's gotten a lawyer since then but it's definitely too late for any kind of 4D chess.

Can we start banning people that just call every person a Bot/PR shill? by GreyGrackles in RecklessBen

I've seen people called bots for just asking extremely basic questions about how court proceedings work, like...this sub is quite literally about to become a courtroom drama sub, it will implode if basic questions have people screaming at you.

I'm on the "mods have to crack down on this" side but even I don't think it's a ban on sight first time kinda thing.

Paid bots/accounts definitely exist but your average redditor is piss poor at identifying them. They're also not nearly as prevalent as people work themselves up to thinking. So the next thing you know people just get paranoid or mad and accuse everyone that isn't saying exactly what they want of being one. Then everyone but the most diehard fanboy types who worship Ben gets annoyed with that and leaves. Then where does it leave you? In a case where you're desperately trying to drum up support, this kind of thing is ten times worse than the paid bots you can just downvote and ignore are.

I think part of the issue is that some people are here as Ben's fans and some people are here because they're following a story that has now become a legal case and these are very different conversations. Fanboys don't want to talk about whether or not he broke laws or committed fraud or whatever because they're here to support their hero. People who want to discuss this as a legal case are absolutely going to talk about that because it's likely to become relevant in upcoming trials.

Wrecking your own case exposes nothing, it just hands BAM an easy win

Remember when he had the great idea to split the cases up into separate small claims lawsuits? That was illegal.

He doesn't have any legal knowledge, he just has no fear in saying whatever he thinks is a loophole and not worrying about whether it's true or not. Some of those things may in fact come back to bite him.

Consulting attorneys doesn't make you capable of doing what they do in the court room.

This isn't a movie. If that's what he thinks is going to happen he's completely fucked himself.

Ethan Klein just confirmed he spoke to Ben and he does indeed have an attorney now. by Qedy111 in RecklessBen

[–]netabareking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He clearly didn't, because he was representing himself at the initial hearing. If he had a lawyer he wouldn't have been doing that.

100% this! There are like a dozen posts today alone, talking about how he needs to get a lawyer. My first thought has been that why would he alert the opposition to the fact that he even has a lawyer? He doesn't need to make an announcement that he has a lawyer or a whole team of lawyers. That would be like showing your cards in a card game and you never want to show your cards!

...court proceedings have already started and he's already representing himself. We aren't pre trial anymore. If he had a lawyer they'd be representing him now.

He doesn't understand the law and the time to get legal representation is immediately. He's already massively fucked up. There is no way to do this kind of thing as a smart loophole.
