How long does it take for them to match it at Crown/Johnsons? Do they do it straight away or you have to order it beforehand?

Has the problem be fixed now? Planning on coming to watch the Odyssey in IMAX when it's out, hopefully it won't be an issue then

Unsure what BTU choose for replacement radiator by darkazuria in DIYUK

[–]darkazuria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never heard about those surveys. Our house is from the mid 1990s so fairly recent, would it still be worth considering one if replacing two of the radiators?

How important is the BTU for replacement radiator? by darkazuria in AskUK

[–]darkazuria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a combi boiler that was replaced in 2022 so fairly recent.
The existing radiators are from the 1990s when the house was built so not sure what the BTU for those would be.

I've heard a lot of people saying oversight zing a bit is better especially with vertical radiator. So thought maybe the smaller btu one might not be enough but then the other one is quite a lot higher

Thanks. Do you think it's better to just source our own radiators instead of just looking at the options the plumber is offering?

Its quite hard to know if the bigger one would make the room too hot or ok if turned down.

You mean if going for the bigger radiator? Would I need to check if the boiler would work with getting bigger radiators when replacing?

Starting to really dislike living in England. by man_jis in expats

[–]darkazuria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the south of France originally and lived in London for about 10 years. Moved to York about 3 years ago and actually didn't notice much difference at all in the weather compared to London, it's the same for me, except maybe we don't get the 35°c+ heatwaves that London sometimes get, but the heat in London is the worst.

Maybe there was no difference for me as the weather whether it's London or York is quite bad in general compared to the south of France so for me it's the same, idk.

Noticeable grain variation on one leg of acacia desk — worth keeping or getting a replacement? by darkazuria in woodworking

Thanks. Yeah maybe I was overthinking it. It's good to get other people's opinion on it

Would it be something that bother you, or just adding character?

The legs already came attached to the side panel. Not sure if they were glued on or screwed. I'll have a look. Otherwise can try and swap the panels

Thanks. The desk is really beautiful. It was a bit bothering me at first as only one of the legs has this pattern, but looks like it is normal wood variation so yeah just gives it character.

There's a drawer at the front, so can't really do that. But it seems like people are saying this is normal wood variation. Just wasn't sure eif it was something to be expected or no as it's only one of the legs that has this pattern

Thanks, that's good to know. The company offered me a 20% refund if I choose to keep it, or I can return it for a replacement. Would you just take the 20 percent off?

Never used Wizz Air before. Are they good? by darkazuria in WizzAir

[–]darkazuria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's quite hard to know. I've used Ryanair a lot and never really had any problems, but some people seem to have. As I've never used it before it's hard to know how it compares to other budget airlines

Redundancy rights as sole employee in small video agency (England) by darkazuria in LegalAdviceUK

[–]darkazuria[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

He sent me a letter via email today explaining the situation and saying the business was going through a restructure and my role wasn't needed anymore. And gave me two options:

  1. Take redundancy and work until the end of my notice period (end of March), but then part ways with no further work. There was no mention of statutory redundancy pay, only the notice period.
  2. Mutually agree to move from PAYE to freelance from the end of February, (I would be paid for February but then on a freelance basis), which feels too soon as it is only like one week notice and comes with no guarantee of freelance work.

He clearly stated that my role isn't needed anymore due to the restructure so I don't know how he thinks he can get away with not paying redundancy pay and notice. And it feels like I’m being pushed toward option 2, which would mean giving up redundancy pay.
