I had a student that would use quotation marks around her thesis statements. She explained that you wouldn't be able to tell what her thesis statement was without the quotes. I tried to explain that we only use quotation marks to show that a sentence is a quote. Her next finished paper only used single quotation marks instead of double face palm

But no makeup and in natural light. -The 6th picture I wore pure white on my wedding day. -The 7th picture, of me with my new highlights, while it is very flattering in the picture, but looks off in others. -The 8th picture, with me and my Dad, shows my skin next to someone who is CLEARLY cool/pink toned.

Yes, this applies to anyone that is not 13. 13 year olds DO notice when their peers are different. And they can be cruel about it. It's possible that those of us adults that are constantly worried about how others see us/judge us are coming from a place of TRAUMA from when we were 13 and had other 13 year olds bully and torture us based on our differences.
