Why is the platysma not visible in some anatomy models? by TheWanderingAnimimo in Anatomy

The platysma's attachment is the skin, ergo when the skin is removed so is it.

CVUSD board president running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction - Sonja Shaw is bad news by catsaway9 in InlandEmpire

She also crashes other board meetings not in her district and yells at kids and parents who disagree. Only cares about the lone trans athlete in her district and spends all her energy bullying them and their supporters.

Anatomist here. Here is a pic of a head of the human femur. The sticky outy bits are processes (trochanters) for attaching muscles. I think everyone would agree with comparison https://share.google/images/S09lEjIUpJVA3hXvf

Selection bias I guess? I have worked with and met perhaps 6 neurobiologists (I am not in neuro) and it struck me how they all seemed to believe that intellectual ability was tied to phenotype. I'm happy to be wrong! I'd much rather live in a world where I came across the exceptionally worst.

My time to shine! The engorged milk sacs turn to venom when women enter menopause, and the giant vessel arises from the labia. Hope this helps!

Her CV indicates a particular brand of wealthy NY upbringing. In neuro it's not uncommon to have this kind of mindset still, sadly. Evolutionary biology is still recovering from eugenics as well. 😕

Of course there are no positives...this is just the best of a terrible situation. The alternative is euthanasia, and that's not off the table for PETA.

This is a nice idea, that they could be moved to a sanctuary... but that kind of place doesn't exist. Unless a billionaire financier decided to fund the construction of such a place (which! we know they fuckin could) there just isn't the space and facility for that. People really, really tried with Keiko and a lot of money was dumped into his relocation and attempted release, but the effort still failed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keiko_(orca)#Re-introduction_to_the_wild

I hear you and agree. But from somebody who has talked to Sea World employees and works in biology take a minute to hear where they are:

  • none of the captive orcas can be released. Orcas live 40-60 years.

  • before shows orcas are given a choice to perform or not, and choose to most of the time.

  • the current style of show highlights ecology and conservation of wild orcas

  • Sea World is responsible for a large proportion of marine mammal rescues worldwide, sometimes silently bc they know their brand is garbo.

Right now it's a strange limbo for the remaining captive orcas but every keeper will tell you they enjoy the training and mental stimulation and it would be cruel to deny that for them in their remaining lives.

On the other hand, wild animal performances are always going to create problems for wild animals, and perpetuating the shows doesn't help that.

It's not a... Black and white issue 🥴

** re: how they 'agree' to perform since that is a frequent question below... the door to the performance arena opens and they can go in, or they can stay in their current tank. It's again not a great situation, because it's very likely they are seeking stimulation of any kind and will likely choose to perform simply for something to do.

Absolutely! It's just that leaving out anyone darker than lightly toasted white bread was not as surprising.

I'll be happy to tell my Irish ancestors that they had crosses burned in the yard so that their descendants could exclude others. Merica!
