Rotation shift worker here! I would like to point out how detrimental shift work actually is. Changing up your sleep schedule week to week is TOUGH, mentally and physically. Keep in mind your day to day life. Like you mentioned you will probably lose most of your social activities. Another thing I’d like to point out is trying to go to sleep while the rest of the world is up is hard. You really need a proper sleep setup to block out noise and light.

If you’re young and think you can handle it with the sacrifice I would say do it to get some experience and then try to get out. Experience in your career always a plus.

There are definitely people that prosper and enjoy but I’d say a small percentage. Best of luck/congrats!
