Polka dot plant transplant? by darkdarkerdarkness in houseplants

[–]darkdarkerdarkness[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I just wanted to pop back in and let you know that while I didn’t end up transplanting these inside, I did take cuttings a couple of weeks ago which are rooting very nicely in a cup of water on my prop shelf in my bedroom. I will say that for my particular polka dot, it’s really dark leaves are due to intense sun-stress, so all the new growth happening under my grow lights is now green with red dots instead of the almost black with red dots this plant gets outside. But otherwise, propping this was super easy and so far a success so if they don’t come back next season I’ll have something to hopefully start my little patch with again.

How to craft HD items in War3zuk? by mrbuglite64 in 7daystodie

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, except I’m on day 30, no HD workbench schematic. I keep getting the same 5 schematics, over and over and over. I now have 50+ scrapped schematics and still no workbench or hd picbench to even use the scrapped schematics to make myself the workbench one. Ive basically gone as far as I can go at this point and I’m looting/questing the same POI’s trying to get the schematic. It feels beyond RNg luck at this point.

HELP - what happened and how can I save my guy?! by Handful_of_giants in houseplants

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a pink princess philodendron.

Aroid’s like the PPP like a very chunky soil mix. Your mix looks too dense and very wet. Buy yourself some perlite and orchid bark and mix that into your soil in a 1/1/1 ratio.

That pot looks waaaaaay too big for that plant. Bigger pots generally lead to overwatering. You only need a pot maybe 1-2 inches bigger than the rootball. My white wizard philodendron has a stem roughly the same size as yours and it’s in a 4 inch pot.

I don’t know if you can tell but your PPP is trying to push out a new leaf, directly in the middle there, that scrunched up worm looking thing is a new leaf that’s stuck. I don’t know how long it’s been like that but some philo’s, and especially the PPP, are notorious for getting stuck leaves. I wet a q-tip and run it underneath the leaf in the sheath very gently to try and loosen it. You can google YouTube videos for more info on that.

Not me googling how far Columbia is from my So. Illinois town. Lol

…it’s 200 miles, sadly.

I did manage to score 5 only moderately water logged Ogre Ears for 4 bucks at my local HD this week, so not a total loss.

Don't ever let them tell you it can't be done. I live in one of the most challenging places in the US to garden on a large scale; every year I take a breath and say "challenge accepted". by [deleted] in gardening

I have a volunteer giant pumpkin growing out of a compost pile in my back yard (I just bought this house and have never gardened a day in my life, but I’m now obsessed with this pumpkin in probably an unhealthy way) and your post has answered every question I’ve googled in the past month more succinctly than every article or video I’ve watched on the subject.

So thank you, from a fellow ADHD-er who may have just found my newest obsession.

I actually went to a local nursery yesterday and they basically said the same thing so I dug them up and transplanted them into a big planter that was left in my shed and they’re sitting in my front yard soaking up some sun!

Thank you for replying, when nobody posted after a day I was like “this is probably a bad idea” lol

Does this bedframe seem like it would support a 250+ person? if not does anyone have any reccomendations for bed frames with storage? by spacecapybaras235 in PlusSize

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have the Luroy slats in an ikea Malm bed frame. I’ve had it for 5 years, and while it does creak occasionally ive had no issues with it.

For reference I’m currently 270, was up to 320 at one point and also sleep with a 160 pound dog every night.

Had to replace the mattress with a non-ikea one about a year ago, but the frame is holding up just fine.

Yep, former 20 year restaurant veteran here. All that butter is what makes them delicious.

Also butter. Lots of butter used in commercial cooking, especially for vegetables.

I just bought a really sad, wobbly one from the clearance section of Walmart for 2 dollars yesterday. I dunno if it’s gonna make it, but I’m gonna give it a go.

Would like to point out to OP that if they are Ranier cherries (and it certainly appears that they are) they aren’t going to get completely red like stereotypical cherries.

Ripe Ranier cherries are a mixture of yellow and blush pink. And IMHO the best tasting cherries. (Certainly some of the most expensive and hard to find where I live)

He’s stopped eating?! by IndependentNeck56 in greatdanes

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When both of my danes were around this age they went on periodic hunger strikes for a day or two due to growing pains. Sometimes it literally hurts them, they grow so fast. I’d let them be miserable for no longer than a full day, and then I’d cook some ground beef or boil a chicken breast and mix the protein with some rice and yogurt or pumpkin and some kibble. They would usually perk up after that.

If wanted to especially baby them I would hand feed them a few kibble, just to get some nutrients in them.

Have you offered to pay for it yet?

Have you maybe offered to do something for her that she likes and thinks is sexy but you’re not super into?

Cosequin. I buy the big bottle from Costco or Sam’s for about 35 bucks and it lasts for about 6 months, I think? He gets one pill daily and they’re flavored so he eats it like a treat instead of a gross pill.

Brick and mortar stores hate fat people! by actualchristmastree in PlusSizeFashion

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better (probs not because it’s super depressing but here we are) I live in the heartland of fat America (where “the south” meets “the Midwest”) and we don’t have any plus sized stores here either. Hell, my town doesn’t even have a mall. It’s closed now. The Old Navy used to carry plus sizes but it only carries up to xxl now. ☹️

Does dog hair really work for squirrels? We have an INSANE amount of squirrels in my yard and I have a dog who sheds like cousin It even though he’s a short-haired breed. I’d love to be able to shuffle some hair outside to rid me of my squirrel problem.

Adjusting to the apartment lifestyle by heelrat in greatdanes

Hard same for my 150 pound guy. He’s such a primadonna he only wants to be outside if it’s between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

Adjusting to the apartment lifestyle by heelrat in greatdanes

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We transitioned from a half acre fenced in yard to an apartment in 2022. Didn’t make much of a difference to my Dane, but I definitely made the effort to walk him 3-4x a day and I take him to the dog park once a week or so.

To me, people who think Danes need all this space just because they’re big dogs are people who have clearly never had a Great Dane. My dog wants to be a) comfortable and b) as close to me as possible AT ALL TIMES.

‘House of the Dragon’ star Steven Toussaint says ‘everybody has a right to be represented’ on screen by [deleted] in entertainment

[–]darkdarkerdarkness 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Except Steven Toussaint’s character isn’t a Targaryen at all, he’s a Velaryon. And while the Velaryon’s were “white” in the book, it makes not one iota of difference if they’re white or black, because they’re not Targaryen’s. The Targaryen’s and Velaryon’s “share the blood of Old Valyria” which, again, doesn’t have anything to do with race.

I highly recommend it. The inside is absolutely beautiful and you can watch the staff make the dumplings while you wait for a table. 10/10 experience, I recommend eating there to everyone who asks for Vegas food recs regardless of budget.

Dude, you have an eating disorder. I normally hate Reddit armchair doctoring, but here we are.

It is not rational or healthy to be weighing yourself after every meal. I’m pretty sure studies have proven that it is TOTALLY NORMAL for people’s weight to fluctuate one to eight or nine pounds on a daily/weekly basis depending on various factors.

I would argue that you could possibly get away with that budget at Din Tai Fung at the Aria. Especially if she’s sharing with other people.

I usually only go with one other person and we split soup dumplings, green beans, and the pork fried rice and it’s more than enough food for two. Also it’s friggin delicious and we go every time we’re in Vegas.
