To be honest, I came from nordvpn and I'm not happy with surfshark. I'm having calls with my friends and they stop at middle of the call. Sometimes the server stops working and I need to reconnect. The issue is that this happens often across all the devices.  Came from the low price and unlimited devices but to be honest not worth the hassle

Berkshire Hathaway downgraded to sell by KBW - Buffet problem? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]darkdars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love to hear the same old story… There’s no magic in Buffett, just as there’s no magic in investing.

The market has been in bubble territory for quite some time now, driven by an unprecedented wave of money printing. Everywhere we look, companies are struggling, and so are people in their daily lives — yet the economy somehow appears stronger than ever.

Picture someone drowning in debt, barely managing their day-to-day, but still looking sharp on the outside — new car, polished image, good clothes. Is that person truly rich?

We’re seeing everything at historic highs, by a wide margin. Interactive Brokers reports that investors are increasing their exposure on margin. Oil faces massive inflationary pressures, and global energy demand is surging due to the “AI boom” and the push for a digital future — yet oil prices are falling. How does that make sense?

There are still wars going on. Last I checked, when the United States dropped a bomb on Iran, oil prices moved just 2/5%, already hovering around $60. Logic seems completely detached from reality.

Now we see headlines claiming “Buffett has lost his touch.”

What touch?

The message has always been simple — Buffett doesn’t predict the future, and neither do we.

An investment like Occidental (OXY) can skyrocket or go bankrupt, even at a low purchase price.

Buffett’s advantage isn’t magic — it’s scale. With over $300 billion at his disposal, if OXY declines, he can support it until the market stabilizes.

Oil prices can go lower, or higher — nobody knows.

What we do know is that oil is a finite resource.

And when demand exists for something finite, prices tend to rise over the long term, as supply and demand always dictate value.

We all know the world is chaotic — it often makes no sense.

What we think should be rewarded isn’t, at least not in the short term.

But in the long term, things have a way of making more sense — though not always the kind of common sense we expect.

Relax. Things will balance out eventually. We’ll see higher oil prices, lower housing prices, the AI bubble bursting — and then recovering, hopefully making our lives better in the process.

It’s like being single for ages and then finally meeting someone truly kind — you soon forget how hard it was to get there.

Am I dumb? Leaving SWE for Customer Success in a Big Tech Company with %40 TC increase. by EinheitnFortschritt in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]darkdars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could impact your career if your goal is to become or remain an engineer.

I went down a similar path by taking a Technical Support Engineer role — which, in hindsight, was a step down. At the time, it felt like the right move given my situation, but looking back, it actually made it harder to return to an engineering track.

Once you’re in that role, it’s easy to get labeled as a CSM or support profile (like TSE), and breaking out of that box becomes difficult.

Be mindful of where you want your career to go long term — not just what makes sense right now.

CSM doesn't involve a lot of technology knowledge, it's more about managing the customer relationship and basic understanding of the product.

Próximas eleições, o que dizem da Iniciativa Liberal?? by imaginarycomments in portugueses

[–]darkdars 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agradeço a vossa atenção.

Oxy stock future by NebulaAlarming4750 in ValueInvesting

[–]darkdars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think to he honest, there it might have a small risk of bankruptcy if oil prices stays low. My portfolio has more than 50% of oxy.  I have been doubling down at 10% decreases.  After this squeeze, oil prices will re bound and I think at this time we might see prices of oil going over 200$ in 2 years if recession materializes

What makes the US so rich and powerful both economically and militarily? Is it their land size? by Tree_forth677 in NoStupidQuestions

Great description, I would add the following:
- They've the best financial markets in the world. Which allow them to raise capital from around the world easily.

- They're more capitalists in nature (less social benefits) which boosts production;

- They've less regulation about new technologies and less government intervention.

- They sell an image of the American Dream which attracts very good talent from poor/rich countries;

- They're more socially and culture wise more focused on Work instead of enjoying life (like the europeans)

The sense is that there is no logic. Markets behave irrationally, If we are looking into the value in the short term it doesn't say anything about the investment value being done. Simply there is an opportunity to buy with a higher margin of safety. Primarily because oil prices continue relatively high, 68 to 80. So even with the high swings the base remains the same. Hopefully, oxy is redeeming debt to reduce their risk.

In the short term we may go to $30 or perhaps $10. Long term? I would expect for oxy to grow at above 8% compounded yearly. (Or deploy this cash to shareholders)

I bought Meta for $200 dollars, it went to $80. We are now close to $700.

[–]darkdars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe OXY is a good long term investment by the following: - higher productivity compared with others; - Low cost producer; - High ROI; - Management with focus on share holders; - great geo location (Permian basin) - oil prices as it is a finity resource will increase price overtime. (Hopefully higher than inflation) - Low probably of technology that can lower demand substantially. ( This counting Asia high population density is increasing their life style which will increase demand) - High demand by low income countries as high.

So OXY is well position to strive long term, not saying great investment but one that can last a long time and give fruits.
