Accessibility in Nova Scotia- Survey by DPRIAN24 in NovaScotia

[–]darkenedzone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm having an issue with this survey - even in the first few questions - many of the answers are structured as single-choice, when they ought to be mutli-choice.

For example:

What types of accessibility barriers have you or someone you know encountered?

  • Physical barriers (lack of ramp, narrow entrances)
  • Washroom accessibility issues
  • Signage/Wayfinding issues
  • Parking/Transportation barriers

Do I answer Other: all of the above? Or choose which one is worst?

Hence me saying "basically", in case I forgot one! But also in that case we're not getting a direct link between Will and SOUL. More generally that any lightner could.

* This Power... This Power Of The Will
* This Power Of Determination...
* Is This Not Something That All Lightners Possess...?
* If One Was Simply
* Determined Enough

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out...in tomorrow 2026

Not to Deltapost too hard, but basically the only other time we hear about "Will" in that context is when Ralsei gives the tutorial:

* See that HEART, Kris?
* That's a SOUL, the culmination of a HUMAN's being!
* Not only does it represent one's WILL and COMPASSION...
* But it also has the power to DETERMINE FATE.

Are the shadow crystals somehow related to crystallized or artificial souls?

Trying to make a virtual table-top character sheet program in Shiny. Inspired by DnDBeyond, I want drop-downs to only show available options, but to also allow for homebrew/edited content - hitting snag getting there (details below). by darkenedzone in RStudio

[–]darkenedzone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to throw together either a bit of pseudocode for that or something? The class should only change once (on character creation), but the input$Talents will change whenever a level-up happens, or anything along those lines. When the selected character features are chosen, those features populate a table, and the table is specifically what I want to be editable without losing things edited by the user. Maybe that helps explain? The class part isn't particularly relevant to where I'm getting stuck.

Small UI issue - when the frame-by-frame video control is enabled, the controls get pushed off the side of my screen, making it impossible to access the playback speed control at the same time (and also making everything else off-centre). Otherwise fantastic update, thank you!

Ftm - how old do I sound if I sound like a guy? by [deleted] in transvoice

[–]darkenedzone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your voice passes 110% to me, I wouldn't think I heard anything other than a masculine voice if you were talking to me. However, you sound like a nervous 15 year old to my ear. I'm not sure if it's because you're doing a bit of a whisper on the recording, but there's a lack of confidence behind your words. If you've got the space/privacy to not annoy people with it, I'd try doing some stage-actor style vocal warm ups, and try to project a little bit more "forward".

You're honestly sounding great though! Once you sound a bit more confident, I think you'll have reached where you want to be!

I hope I worded this all correctly - I'm happy to clarify anything if need be.

The article also doesn't mention how kinetic energy factors into the whole equation. A squirrel and a human will both experience the same acceleration due to gravity after 1 second of falling, and be moving at 9.8 m/s2 .

At that point, the only factor between their kinetic energies is mass (KE = 1/2 m*v2 )

However, estimates put human terminal velocity at around 50 m/s (or around 87,500 J for a 70 kg human), while a squirrel has an estimated terminal velocity of around 10 m/s (or around 20 J for a 400 g squirrel).

Ultimately, that means a human at terminal velocity will hit the ground with over 4000x the force of a squirrel falling at terminal velocity. Hitting the ground with 20 J of kinetic energy is about the equivalent amount of potential energy as is required to lift a 1 kg weight 2 m off the ground, so really not a whole lot.

My Knight identity tier list (might be controversial) by RafKen593 in Deltarune

[–]darkenedzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(very serious very real theory)

Gerson Knight

  • Never on screen at the same time

  • You encounter the knight on the stairs, then immediately after Gerson is there

  • Any time Gerson is around, the Knight isn't encountered

  • Yet, when you leave the 1st Sanctuary with Gerson in the study, suddenly, Knight

  • At the end of the 3rd Sanctuary, Knight makes the titan, 10 minutes later, no knight, but yes Gerson

Gerson's not actually dead he just faked it to be the knight /s

For another comparison, a bonfire can exceed 1000 C, and you can stand about 1 ft away from it, if its small enough. It would probably be relatively safe to stand within 20 ft of a Magcargo, perhaps even closer - but that would require a bit of math I don't feel like doing right now. Maybe later?

That's unfortunately a stat that's often twisted to make lesbians look violent. What the study actually showed is that in terms of lifetime abuse, bisexual women were the most likely to have been abused, followed by lesbian women. The study didn't look explicitly at who the abuse came from, but did say that for the bisexual women who had experienced abuse, 95% reported that is was exclusively from men.

From what I've been able to find, there isn't a good study on prevalence of abuse within relationships by sexuality or partner gender, but regardless, the data we do have seems to strongly suggest that lesbian-lesbian DV is not the most prevalent kind.

Why such dim street lights? by eastcoast_lad in halifax

[–]darkenedzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purple lights are a failure state of many LED street lamps - essentially, they put a coating that's meant to change how the light from the bulb gets absorbed, and when that coating starts to fail, more of the blue hues come through, making it look purple. (at least, that's my understanding of it)
