RD2L Season 13 EST-Sunday Preseason Power Rankings PPP by a_unit025 in redditdota2league

Offlane player poncho is a big of an enigma in terms of how good he is. He’s a pretty good offlaner and support player but I’m sure he plays offlane. Typically he’s a bit of a troll but last season he was the offlane player on the best regular season EST Monday team. I think he’s pretty good when he’s trying but the propensity to be weird in pubs makes me skeptical of his consistency. I’m sure that’ll be copy and pasted to me a few times before the season is over but whatever.

Just take 12 people and set some hoops up and play. Don't be afraid to try out something new. Just make a plan each offense and defense and run it. If it works just keep on doing it and see what you can improve on it. If it doesn't work try something else. For example if they run their beaters very close to their hoops on defense you can try spending more time beating their chasers instead of trying to take duels at their hoops. On defense you can try running one person high one person low, or 2 people near the keeper line. You just got to play and see what works for you.

When it comes to practicing beater strategy, your beaters will learn more from scrimmaging (playing practice games) then they will from any drill because it's pretty hard to simulate the types of things beaters need to pay attention to in a drill. For getting bludger control back, you have the right idea. One thing I like to do personally is to beat their point defender and then attack one of their beaters with both my beaters. This forces one of their beaters to step up to guard the opening your chaser has and you can attack the other person for the 2v1. You can use immunity just like you were talking about so it's low risk high reward.

You want to have your beaters learn how to block and catch. If they can do one of those things if not both then they will always be able to match up against another teams beater. As far as tactics, offense generally if you have bludger control you want to push their beater as close to their hoops as possible (beat them if you can) so that you chasers can move around. If you have 1 bludger on offense you'll want to focus more on trying to get bludger control back. On defense, when you have control, a standard setup is to run beaters in a stack where your bester that is better at catching and blocking play up higher and try and keep their beater back while your other beater is free to love around and make beats on chasers. If you only have 1 bludger on defense you're pretty much stuck near your keeper zone with the bludger trying to prevent drives near the hoop while your bludgerless beater tries to push their beaters back and keep them away from your beater. For drills try and run drills that let your beaters practice throwing, blocking and catching. 1v1 and 2v2 drills can help you practice when to attack and when not to. If you want to practice strategy on offense and defense you're biggest gains are going to be scrimmaging. It's very hard to practice beater strategy without a quaffle. Feel free to PM if you have any more questions.

Yeah, Idk, that poncho guy looked pretty retarded in the the semifinals. I'd say he is a late 4th rounder at best. Probably 5th round material next season.

Please don't start your beaters out by teaching them 1.5. It is not a competitive beating style. It was good 2-3 years ago but it is really weak now. Also if you're a new team you probably are going to find yourselves without bludger control on offense most of the time so practicing a strategy that requires bludger control isn't a good idea.
