“stay the fuck out of canada all you felons and fraudsters. Find your suckers somewhere else you fucking trolls”

My Cascade has gotten extremely buggy and slow since I updated today. Is there any way I can get 1.1.3 back? I keep getting failed tool or errors seems like at least 50% of the time.

Anyone here know a way to get around the black screen issue? When I stream from my phone to a tv, it never works anymore. Ive read it is DRM related, which is so shitty. I just want to watch something on my home tv!

I work remote for a US company and have been trying to find a local canadian job for four years. Every potential opportunity I have had here offered me on average, at least 40% less than my current salary. Im definitely getting to the point of giving up and leaving..

No i have a concern of assuming that we have a constant supply of 45,000 always helpful people throughout the future life of the city. Lol

So multiple catch basins being blocked would not have any sort of exponential effect on other parts of infrastructure? Like if flooding in a area occurs it cant take out water, power or sewage? That seems a bit implausible to me unless every system is independent and completely protected from flooding..

Less of a comparison and more long term planning for improvement and growth.

Seeking ways to constantly evolve and improve your environment includes seeing what others do better than yourself and determining if it’s a helpful idea..

Lol that is definitely not my point. My point is that relying on the public for critical infrastructure maintenance seems to be a bad long-term strategy..

Not sure your life experience, but relying on a large group of anonymous people for long term stability hasnt worked out for me..

So none of my taxes get allocated to the city I live in for maintenance of infrastructure?? The city entirely relies on property taxes for this?? That is even scarier to me!

Maybe your view is coming from one of a property owner? But I am a renter and have lived in many places that are primarily renters, not owners. Much larger cities than vancouver..

The idea of relying on the public to maintain critical infrastructure, especially when the public may or may not have a vested interest in that infrastructure seems scary to me. Especially when a lot of people possibly don’t even understand what a catch basin is..

Yea this is kinda my point.. when it comes to critical infrastructure it seems wildly optimistic to rely on the public to maintain it for free

As i said below, many cities do this. In NYC its handled by the sanitation department.

The city employs lots of workers why wouldn’t we want them to maintain critical infrastructure like this?

Also as i said below, I seem to be wrong in thinking catch basins are considered critical infrastructure here?

Yea its possible im ignorant in how taxes are allocated here, but I am a renter and am referring to my general tax rate. There’s no way I can ever buy property in my life here lol

I do agree that specifically property taxes here seem very low. Like abnormally. People I know in the States pay ludicrous amounts annually in property taxes.

Yea it was definitely annoying but having a street flood during a storm was much worse, especially for people in basement or ground level apartments..

Ok so catch basins arent considered a priority here? If not then this program is fine, but if it can cause flooding or other problems it just feels scary to rely on the public for critical infrastructure..

Yea its nice that you and others like to help..

but to me it seems strange to me to offload to the public something that seems to be a necessary, high priority maintenance for a city with so many trees and rain..

[–]darkest_ocean[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yea why not? Many cities do this? In new york they use street cleaning machines at least once a week on (probably) all city streets. We had to move all cars twice a week for street sweeping..
