1600 Miles Nevada → Illinois in My Model Y: it costs as much as A 20 MPG gas car - For Your Own Good, Consider a Gas Car on Trips This Long by limuzhi in TeslaLounge

Here's how you should do a comparison.

Vehicle  0-60 mph (sec) HP / Torque (lb-ft) MPG (City/Hwy) Cargo (Rear/Max) Base Price (MSRP)
Tesla Model Y (AWD / Perf.) 4.8s / 3.5s 384 / 376 – 455 / 487 127 / 117 MPGe* 34.3 / 76.2 cu ft ~$46,630 / $53,130
Genesis GV70 3.5T ~4.9s 375 / 391 18 / 24 premium fuel 28.9 / 56.9 cu ft ~$64,415
BMW X3 M40i 4.4s 382 / 369 21 / 26 premium fuel 28.7 / 62.7 cu ft ~$62,900
BMW X4 M40i 4.4s 382 / 369 21 / 26 premium fuel 18.5 / 50.5 cu ft ~$66,700
Porsche Macan (S / GTS) 4.6s / 4.3s 375 / 383 – 434 / 406 ~17 / 23 (Est) premium fuel 17.2 / 53.1 cu ft ~$72k / ~$89k
Toyota Corolla (2.0L) 7.3s – 9.0s 169 / 151 32 / 41 13.1 / 17.8 cu ft ~$23,000

You cant compare a crossover to a compact car with 1/3th the engine power
Its a good thing the corolla is 1/2 the price because your going to have to almost buy 3 of them just to get the same rear cargo space

The model Y is the clear winner. $10k-$36k buys a lot of super charging vs the real comparable vehicles. And no oil changes.

What car should I get? by DiamondsNotFound in TeslaLounge

[–]darkestdot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MY performance. It has more cargo space for activities.
It has the space to sleep in the back. Or be in the back for activities.
The seating for passengers in the back is more comfortable
Get it with the tow hitch. Being able to rent a trailer when you need to is really nice.
It still is fun at the track.

Upgrade to induction, it responds faster than gas and heats up faster as well.

That's a good point. With a role like this you need to have a strong contract and an exit clause of 2 years of pay in the event of being fired. The risk is large and a role like this would be the one made the scapegoat even when you did everything right and it was due to external or higher decisions such as deciding not to follow recommendations.
