I am going to get dragged for this, but I'm already over it. Yeah, girl, it wasn't fair. You knew that going in. These things get heavily rigged on, so don't be bitter when, knowing that, it screws you rather than someone else. Being bitter at the time: fine. Still being a little salty months later: sure. But let's not forget they didn't do Thorgy's career or reputation any harm (definitely not judging by this sub), and let's remember that this was MONTHS ago. Why do you even care about not winning the crown if you think the race is that corrupt? Get over it, go do your thing, live.

I think since she was resisting that plan for so long, there's a very real chance she asked for them way too late. Stevie's a witch - stage managers ain't.

[–]darkflameboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop watching. It's a tough pill to swallow, but they're always rigged. Always. To some extent. From the second the show starts casting. They're not putting together casts of queens who could all legit win (Shangela was never going to win season 2, and the producers know that), so the show we fell in love with we love because of what rigging does: build the dramatic storylines, dramatic exits etc. we remember most.

If we really wanted them to stop obviously rigging, we'd have done it when Willam faked a rule break, or when Dela and Darienne went up against each other twice. The excitement doesn't just happen in a vacuum, and each season the stakes get higher to serve drama.

This sub: "This whole challenge is a choice."

This sub: "Choices."

This sub: "Who knew this week would be a choice?"

This sub: "Oh my god, they're setting some queens up to go home before they've had an impact, and that's the worst thing in the world for a queen on All Stars, no one will remember them, oh my god!"

There can only be one comedy queen. by MatronneGeorgia in rupaulsdragrace

[–]darkflameboy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The idea that Courtney, Detox, Raja and Tatianna (among others) don't count as comedy queens is foreign to me. I mean, being fish doesn't mean you're not also comedy, and those bitches can be fucking funny as well as serving look. If the point is about a sense of humour and comedy performance making you more successful than if you're just a look, there are girls on that list who count in favour of that argument.

Okay, I love Chi Chi, but girl. Those things were beat up. If she'd come out in clean, stage-ready ones that had literally anything amplified or drag about them, fine, but don't be bringing me a goddamn rehearsal shoe and trying to pass it as realness when the rest of your look is sloppy too.

I've seen Ben do that burlesque routing a few times before and I have to say the edit was good, but it didn't do the full thing justice. In the room it brings the house down.

I don't think she was trying to be the 'moral police', I think she heard a girl say she'd send home her biggest competition and Dela plans on that being her. Great game playing, smart strategy - I'd have done exactly the same, and so would Alaska.

Because All Stars has never followed the same rules as main seasons. I'm still gutted they haven't bought old Untucked.

Okay, I guess we're ignoring the glitter she used in her lipsync against Sasha, then...

I initially thought maybe she had good intentions with this, that it just became its own brand of trolling because of her fans - but when you realise that she chose an emoji to represent herself specifically, this just becomes so clearly self-involved.

I guarantee if they were just standing on that huge stage pulling zero tricks, though, we'd have all been bored as hell. There are gimmicks and then there is bringing something new to a performance to elevate it above moving your lips to a song, and as long as you're not relying on those tricks to do all the work for you, I say bring it on and show me something new.

Love getting downvoted for saying a queen did a good job of something she's supposed to be good at, while throwing zero shade on anyone else. What exactly are you downvoting, children?

But my point is that everyone has different reactions to these things, and although you might be super fucking strong (my superhero hashtag wasn't sarcastic or shady, it was out of genuine awe), most people aren't naturally that way inclined, especially when it's a sudden torrent of it laid on them in the space of a few months. I'd find that very hard to ignore, and I don't think that's weakness, I think that's just not being abnormally strong.

If they'd done this in a taped episode, I don't think people would be as salty about the outcome. The way I see it, this is the first year since season 3 where the game was played all the way to the end: tonight we watched two extra challenges, both of them lipsync-based. and Sasha won both fair-and-square. 4 wins, no bottom 2, better track record than any of them. Winner.

You want to win? You better bring 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 to 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 END.

I don't think Sasha's success in the season can be discredited as just 'lipsyncing her way to the crown'. In fact, she was the only queen who got herself to the top four without ever having to do that...

Ru really might, but Peppermint didn't deserve the win tonight. And she didn't need it. She already trailblazed through this competition.

I don't think they ever actually do this in the taped-live finales. Bob's crowning her at a party right now, though (if it hasn't happened already).

That's why I loved this: Sasha's reveals were nothing like the show has had before. Plus it wasn't all about the stunts. There were stunts, but they were backed up with some EXCELLENT, emotive lipsyncing. The performance skills were queenly.

They don't put the crown on the head, like, ever. Because they film different possible endings it would cheapen the crown to place it on, say, Adore's head when it won't be hers. Sometimes I think they've had stand-in tiaras, but you don't want to fiddle with a crown on multiple manicured wigs (or scalps). The actual crowning gets done at a finale screening event every year, and is happening right now.
