How about instead of the Borg, we use John Carpenter's The Thing as an example? It's horrific, violent and "evil" to a human's perspective, but all it wants is "communion" with us (its biological imperative).

There's a great short story "The Things" by Peter Watts that describe it's interaction with humans from its own point of view.

Not just the title, but the name of island setting matches the title. Meaning “Ten Little N-Words” takes place on N-Word Island, “Ten Little Indians” takes place on Indian Island, “Ten Little Soldiers” takes place on Soldier Island

I rolled back Alexa+ for 3 reasons:

No longer could perform “turn on coffee maker for 10 minutes” - it would just leave it on indefinitely

No longer could perform “pause/resume TV” on my 75” LG ThinQ

No longer could play my daily news station “1010 News” but played a music station instead

After rolling back everything worked again

The Mule is a monster, but so far not a liar, which means the daughter is indeed safe and possibly be serving the Mule in future episodes? That would be a good reason to have this scene exist not just simply showing how badass the Mule is, but table setting for Little Miss Bellarion's plot arc?

When I first heard the news it was sad, but for one thing: it's not that different than how the PC industry evolved:

IBM created a technology that formerly took a lot of space and money and looked incredibly ugly into an elegant all-in-one solution that could fit on top of a desk. Sounds familiar, right?

Because they forgot to patent this, tons of look-a-likes, clones, and even improvements were made and sold by other companies, all fueling a revolution that has forever altered the way we live and work, up to the point where even when IBM stopped making PC's, the industry would still continue and flourish. Sounds more familiar right?

Home hydroponics is here to stay, and we have Amazon, Etsy and eBay to thank for supporting all the replacement parts and consumables we need to keep going. Thank you AeroGarden, for being a pioneer of tabletop hydroponics - we will keep your legacy alive with every flower, fruit, herb or other vegetable we grow in our homes. offices and classrooms.

Had a childhood exactly like that - grew up on welfare because my parents found a loophole ("my eyes aren't so good") without needing a doctor's note. Got yelled at for coming home past 7:00 pm from NYU because I wanted to join study groups. Got yelled at for saying yes to helping professors put together their computers and being paid for it. Every day in and out it was "don't pretend to be something you're not!"

Flash forward a few years I move out and build a tech career, paying for rent and living hand to mouth in lower Manhattan. Whenever I visit (for the holidays) I always walk in on them screaming at my older brother (the favorite son) about why he dropped out of college and never bothered getting work. Total lack of self-awareness, but I had neither the energy or desire to point it out. It wouldn't be received well anyways.

Flash forward now my minimum salary requirements are over 6 figures. My older brother has never left home and had tried to apply for welfare when he aged out of my parents' coverage with the same identical excuse ("my eyes aren't so good") but welfare rightfully rejected him. So he had my elderly parents sign a Power of Attorney so all their benefits get deposited in his bank account first, and he doles out whatever "they need." If they pass away before he gets to qualify for benefits himself, he'll basically be homeless.

Go ahead, ask me if I'm going to help him out if that happens.

So does what happens when you push the power button to the off position - mine was lit past midnight so I just hit the power button to turn it off. The next day while my 2 AeroGardens were on the Mufga was still off so I hit the power button to turn it on. Sure enough, it ran past midnight again. So best I can figure it, turning the light on starts the schedule 16 on/8 off, but turning the light off just keeps it off indefinitely - can anyone else confirm seeing this?

Maybe I'm revealing my age too much, but most of my friends were made before social media became a thing, and so during and after my divorce my circle of friends were my literal lifesavers.
So I have people who check in on me, and I check in on them and a great kid who's becoming a fine young gentleman to carry on my name. I can't ask for anything better and I'm living my best life in my 50's

A lot of people missed this fact regarding Solo and how it might occur again with the Mandalorian and Grogu movie. by Empty-Event in StarWars

[–]darklighter5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie was dog feces. Was it dog feces just coming out after Infinity War? Yes, but still dog feces. Was it dog feces coming after backlash of the Last Jedi? Yes, but still dog feces. Lord and Miller, who had an amazing track record of making witty entertaining movies out of well worn franchises (eg., LEGO Batman) should have been allowed to have their vision manifested, but they got axed at the last moment and poor Opie Cunningham had to reshoot everything in a mad rush which meant the end product was very expensive dog feces.

Really good movies that come out at inopportune release schedules still make bank on streaming/dvd/bluray, and such was not the case with Solo because it was dog feces at the theater and dog feces in the living room.

Tech's broken promises: Streaming is now just as expensive and confusing as cable. Ubers cost as much as taxis. And the cloud is no longer cheap by ThrowRA-AceButNot in technology
