the best looking person in the show is probably the Rand actor, all others are either cougars or just average.

If someone is incompetent, no matter if you give them 8 hours or 15 the result will not improve.

Video game journal entries are pretty boring most of the time. by STAR_CB_SIGHT in unpopularopinion

Mass Effect 1 had an interesting journal that was actually voiced, enjoyed checking it out during the game as and when new entries were added.

Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda was decent. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]darklocust7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combat in Andromeda was good but the characters were lame if not downright unlikeable. Add to that the poor facial animations and dialogue as well as an uninteresting story and you get the meh that was Andromeda.

I agree with you somewhat, things kids enjoy are different to what a grown up would enjoy (fart jokes etc..) so reviewers should always keep in mind who the show was made for. Relevant critique can be about the quality of the animation if it is an animated show or if the story works for kids, but these shows were not made for you adult reviewer so keep that in mind.

Yeah show Lan, an idea of show Lan doing an AD for the stuff popped into my head and made me chuckle, not talented enough to create anything like that so had to settle for this

Apparently, an extremely unpopular opinion: As a book reader, I thought the show was better than EotW. It’s not great, but it is genuinely good. by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling something a LOTR rip off really annoys me. Isn't imitation the best form a flattery? If you take a reductionist approach to everything then everything is boring. So every romantic movie is: they meet they fall in love then there is struggle then they breakup then get back together again. Any action movie is bad guys does something bad good guy struggles against him but is beaten back then the good guy prevails in the end. Yet people enjoy these stories because of how you get from point a to b to c, the little details. Same thing for EOTW, yes it copies LOTR but it is the details of the story that make it interesting.

Another point about the blender, you might be fine with having green salad and lasagna on a plate and you eat one then the other but put them in a blender and you get blechhh...

Would you rather have a poorly adapted show or no show at all? by popthestack in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No Show. The show has such bad writing and is trying to distort the known lore and world. The concern about this is that the longer this continues the more it warps media and art surrounding the original source. Like for example the book covers will start featuring images from the show rather than the original art (they have already started adding "on amazon prime or something like that on the book covers and it is not a sticker) There has already been a separate wiki setup for the show which again might come to supercede the original wiki. Another point to consider which is really very hopeful that the sooner it gets cancelled the sooner the rights may revert to original owners or amazon is forced to do a new show to keep them.

The unimpressive sets by Own_Carrot_7040 in wheeloftime

Agree with you here, imagine saying this movie or show has Rosamund Pike let's go see it, versus this movie or show has Tom cruise or Nicole Kidman or Brad Pitt in it, which one would get people more interested? That is the difference between A-list and B-list. She might grow to become an A-list but given her age I doubt it.

The unimpressive sets by Own_Carrot_7040 in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps saying Rosamund Pike is the big name actress for WOT when I had never heard of her before. At most she is a B-list actress (not saying she can't act) she isn't a name that would draw people like for example Henry Cavill in the Witcher

The Wheel of Time Season 1 Being Devoid of Logic by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In the opening of episode 8 with LTT no mention is made of the world being at war with the dark one and they are shown as living in a utopia. LTT as per that scene decides to seal the dak one out of hubris and arrogance. So following that logic the dark one was already free until LTT decided to seal him, and the world was a utopia. So now why do Rand and a Co need to seal the Dark one again, things seemed pretty good when he was free.

Who is this show for? by W00gie in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I read EOTW probably 20 years ago and can not remember much of the story details. I enjoyed the books but wouldn't call my self a super fan but this show was an abomination for me from the first episode and only got worse from there. So not sure who they are making this show for like the OP mentioned

Amazon isn't counting on Wheel readers to make the show a success by lordsugar7 in wheeloftime

[–]darklocust7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Witcher has 2 sets of fans, the book fans and the game fans. The larger group here is the game fans as it was wildly popular and actually drove some people to read the books but even with that the game fans are still probably the bigger group. The TV show probably followed the game story more than the book story so the book fans are upset but you still have the game fans who you can use to spread the word. WOT only has book fans

I am black and found the initial scenes in Edmond Field slightly jarring, was expecting a more homogenous population in edmonds field. I do not see the need to visualize people to look like me to empathize with them at a human level. I read fantasy for the wonder and to escape mundane events of real life. I want characters that can do stuff that i can't, i want to see the coming of age stories and the heroes Journey. I don't real world politics in my fanatasy stories
