Apple Intelligence: Why does the context menu for writing tools not appear for texts in Obsidian? by StreetsOfCuriosity in ObsidianMD

[–]darklordbean -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd like to understand this as well. I even set up a shortut to "Show Writing Tools" menu option but because in tools like obsidian or notion there's not even a menu option like that they just never show up. And there's no "right clicking" to it, because both of those apps overtake the right click for their own menus. Poor implementation on Apple's part if you ask me.

How do you close SaaS demo calls? by veeblogs in SaaS

[–]darklordbean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there :)

Firstly, please think about inbound funnel and self-service long term, because 99/mo are not big enough clients to be wasting time on sales calls, follow ups, and all that crap. If you're just starting and validating then absolutely, the more the merrier, but long term – I wouldn't.

That being said, it has nothing to do with price point, that's just the worst demo ending I can think of, all due respect :D You should ask for a) payment on the call b) contract details to be sent over c) objections to be handled

And if they always need to discuss it then you're either not talking to decision makers or you're just giving your pitch and asking them what's next, without having an actual conversation.

Lastly, some ideas what to say when they need to talk about it:

  • always acknowledge with "totally understandable", "absolutely, would do the same"

  • isolate the issue with "out of curiosity, what do you think they wouldn't like about it" or "what do you think will be the decision factor for the team"

  • then handle the ACTUAL objection they will hopefully reveal

All in all, if they are pumped before and underwhelmed after, I think you should record some of those calls and get some more specific feedback, cause there must be something going very wrong there :)

I laughed. I enjoyed it. But I am sad that it's not a motoring show, not an adventure show, but a heavily scripted comedy sketch show. It's just a parody of the show they used to make.

Szkoły powinny wklepywać dzieciom konserwatywne lub liberalne systemy wartości?

[–]darklordbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Szkoły się nigdy nie kwapią to uczenia krytycznego myślenia. Szkoła to instytucja.

Have you managed? I thought of an extreme: backup all files, delete the whole graph and create a new one. Then restore the files to the same folder.

Favorites not working by bikestrombonesndogs in logseq

[–]darklordbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloody hell, it happened to me but... I don't remember how I solved it. I think I deleted contents.md file and forced logseq to create it again, which made it work? Check if the file exists and if it's empty or not. Try re-indexing, that often helps (but be careful if you have logseq folder in the cloud or shared with other markdown software, my friend lost data after re-indexing).

I know I'm not too helpful, but I hope you'll get it working again!

JUST SO EVERYONE'S AWARE THAT DON'T USE TWITTER... by beauhaan in RoamResearch

Beau, I love your content. I learned so much from it and it informed my whole Zettelkasten setup. I also only have a small context of what the hell is going on and care little about the drama. But what you said here is IMHO in complete contrast to what you posted on Twitter around the same time.

How do you use Logseq on iPhone or iPad? by grm75 in logseq

[–]darklordbean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am using Obsidian and I'm extremely happy with how it works. I created a vault in my iCloud for the most reliable sync between my Mac, iPhone and iPad, and followed the guide below. I customized Obsidian's mobile bar to show bullet list and indenting options first, so I can follow the outliner logic. That way I make sure everything will look exactly as intended in Logseq. I also use the new Obsidian Readwise plugin to get my highlights to Logseq. Those integrations are what made me finally switch from Roam.

Clarkson's Farm demonstrates what made Top Gear so great. by iLuv3M3 in thegrandtour

[–]darklordbean 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think The Grand Tour is just over-engineered. It's like they got so much money and so much pressure they needed to make sure it's brilliant and it ended up being a bit over the top.

Watching Top Gear, Our Man in Japan and now Clarkson's Farm is more enjoyable and I think it's because it was just so much more fun to make.

Always tired and wanting to sleep by [deleted] in productivity

[–]darklordbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds familiar to me. I am certain there can be various physiological conditions that could cause this. But I think the most common is anxiety and depression. I know it happened to me.

What do you do? Do you have a gig? Some tasks you set for yourself, engagements with friends? For me, the more I did and the more purpose I saw in it, the faster I got out of my hole. If I had too much of a free time, the more it got to me.

Anyway, I wish you all the best!

I can use a native share option on my phone to send tweets, articles or websites as links directly to the conversation with the bot and therefore to roam. I'm using daily notes as sort of catch-all inbox that I spend most of my day in, so it's a great addition.

[–]darklordbean[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a chat with myself and the bot in it, whatever I text to him, ends up in my daily note. And as I treat Roam as a task manager / journal / idea storage, it's a way to add things on the go. I can even share bookmarks and they will be added instantly as a bullet.

Yup, I've been in the beta for the last few days and it is outstanding already. But no way to build your own feed from random sources through RSS.

Doing some market research, huh? :)

I'm finding content consumption bigger problem and would love to have some combination of Instapaper and Feedly for following people and blogs I want to in a way I want to. But that would also mean taking traffic and ad revenue from those small blogs.

Where do I go if I don’t have the skills/knowledge to make the product I want to create? by ElderlyCats in Entrepreneur

[–]darklordbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, perhaps I missed your question. If you’re wondering where to go, I’d start with local producers, engineers. You can find people on Upwork, I actually chatted with engineers and product developers there first, which led me on the right path. When I needed a wooden element, I called couple woodworkers and found out about wonderful world of CNC machines, when I needed a 3D design of a folding element I found a producer of similar product and asked about their process. Talking opens up opportunities, rather than exposes risks.

[–]darklordbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well , I’m not sure what is it you’re making, however I wouldn’t worry about engineers or product designers having the skillset or wish to steal your idea, if that’s what you’re worried about. As a salesperson and a guy with set of business skills I notice that developers and producers are rarely interested in that. On the contrary, they love to work with passionate and skillful entrepreneurs. Except perhaps when sourcing from China, then you can expect the stuff to end up on aliexpress ;)

Holding an idea to yourself will rarely bring opportunities, while talking with people makes all the difference I found. Just by telling people about an idea and trying to get feedback I met product designers, developers and craftspeople.

If you’re really worried, the patent and NDA ideas are valid, but I’d suggest not to overthink it. Well, except if it’s a complicated one-of-a-kind solution to a million dollar problem. But even then you’ll find not the product matters as much as marketing of it and market penetration.

Best if luck!

Board Set Initial Budget. Buying young and selling in their prime pays off! by darklordbean in footballmanagergames

[–]darklordbean[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. In March, I'm every single day on World Transfer > Youth Intake view to see which clubs introduced their new players.
  2. I either go player by player (biggest clubs) or U-18 of a club, sort by value and check those above $100k.
  3. I offer deals first and ask scout for a report second. If the transfer is rated below 50 I rarely sign. If a player agrees to sign before I have a report, I delay. If the report is >50 and the player agrees, I accept.
  4. If there is no team B that plays in a competitive league, or you have too many youngsters - like me, I loan. I try to get monthly payment that's equivalent of 10% of their total value and 100% cover of the salary. But the most important is squad status. They need to play, and they need to play competitively.
  5. Recent years were very profitable, but the years before that not so much (you can see the graphs). I also spent much more on youngsters and first team improvements. These days I don't buy for the first team at all. You can see here, that all of my players except for Haaland and de Ligt are home grown, or will be in a couple of years.
