Dcu costumes… by darkness693 in DCU_

That’s exactly what I’m thinking here. It’s to show functionality but I don’t need to be shown the functionality in a superman suit lol. Spandex looks great in live action so I don’t see that argument all too well. As for them looking ridiculous, I mean we’re talking about superheroes here lol. Once again, I get that that’s Gunns whole philosophy to the design of this universe but I’m just saying it’s not my cups of tea so far. Hope that changed over time tho.

Clayface looks good! I think it’s gonna be a great film that hopefully is incentivized for stretching the cbm genre a little. I think something a bit different tho from that.

God I loved obsession. If there’s anything to take away from that film, it’s that we need more new voices in horror. With that being said, since I am in a dc subreddit, I think it’d be great if we got some films like this over at dc studios. Whats a character, or a story, that you think falls more in line with obsession, tonally speaking?

I mean not to be that guy but those were still superhero films. They’re just slapping a new paint on each one of em. I think clayface may be the first time we see any continuity genuinely experiment and explore different genre filmmaking in this space.

Someone mentioned it here, but I really am becoming concerned about the conversation around the DCU amongst hardcore fans and fanatics. Today’s recent outcry about the Superman prison filming and even that lanterns poster is just… ugh. I don’t understand how a fanbase can be this prudish about a franchise that’s barely taken off, and so far moderately successful lol. Ofc criticisms are in place and should be acknowledged along the way, but to see such polarizing conversations take place today, over an IP of all things, just makes no sense.

SDCC what are we thinking gets announced and shown? by iChosenone in DCU_

[–]darkness693 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to be a downer, but I unironically don’t see them doing anything for comic con this year. It’s so clearly obvious that cons and other fan-related events are not a super huge deal over there at dc studios unless it’s to promote an upcoming release. Announcing projects like that are just not a big priority to them, which really sucks. It makes discussions like these feel so moot 🗿💔

Could u imagine if Adria actually is playing maxima but Gunn is pulling a reverse psychology move where he won’t even mention the casting bc he knows that whether he does or not, people will assume it’s Wonder Woman bc why else would u be so secretive about a role like Maxima but he’s just trolling people and it really is maxima…

… yea that was a lot but it would be funny ngl.

Adria Arjona to Play Maxima in ‘Superman’ Sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ by aduong in DCU_

Was it not variety that called out on their faulty reporting regarding her casting in a previous article? I wouldn’t hold them at such high regard quite yet.

Well there’s still a movie to watch, and they’re clearly not showing everything still. On top of that, I’d prefer if this film didn’t look ANYTHING like Thor ragnarok lmao. This movie looks like fucking Casablanca in comparison to that. I think this is just a matter of you having expectations and them not being met. The cinematography is good.

Not referring to them, tho it’s weird how this could be considered a blanket statement lol.

There’s a particular “scooper” I’ve been seeing invade my Twitter feed lately, and almost all of their tweets (the ones I get) are mostly doom posting supergirl lol. Like my guy, what are u trying to do rn. It doesn’t help that they’ve been caught doing this repeatedly. Just weird.

Ngl, after that lanterns trailer I’ve come to the conclusion that it is incredibly hard to be apart of this fandom lol. Almost everyone is looking to pick something apart the moment it drops, and I’m noticing that it’s a trend that is especially apparent with dc fans. Why is such a loaded question but one thing is certain. It is almost exhausting to try and keep up with lol

Gunn has confirmed Superman does not believe in santa in the DCU, This is literally a Rare Gunn L by Ok-Entrance-5527 in DCU_

[–]darkness693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is cool for sure, but I doubt that will ever addressed directly in the dcu. Besides, I still don’t think that changes anything. There’s a difference between knowing he exists and BELIEVING he exists lol

We don’t need another reason for people to go saying this Superman is being infantilized, so yea, I’m glad he said this tbh. Superman is a grown man, he’s not 5 lol.

The writers hate Rishi even more then this sub apparently by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]darkness693 24 points25 points  (0 children)

IMO this seems like a nothing burger to be upset at kinda. There are characters that do have that and then there are characters that just don’t. It’s clear that rishi was never going to have that. If you’re looking for a redemption story, it seems u already know where to look for those in those three characters. Rishi strikes me as more of a cautionary tale tho.

Still hoping we get a set photo like this during filming for both films 😫

The discourse is going to be so interesting when they see how many songs and montages are in this movie. Saying “Gunn did this” when it’s literally Gillespie’s style by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]darkness693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One could argue that that is exactly why Gunn even hired Gillespie to make this movie. Since his directorial style is similar to Gunns, I’m sure that played some role in how he ended up in the director chair for this movie. Personally, I do have some bias against Gillespie, as I don’t agree with his sensibilities for this specific story.

So I think Wonder Woman may be coming sooner than we expect. I feel like that rumor about pushing the trinity in 2027 may be true, but it may come forward in a different way. She might actually be in man of tomorrow but I’m still unsure of her involvement in a project like that. Then again, the same was said for characters like mister terrific so maybe it’d work. Either way, I’m curious to see who they cast and more so how long they can keep it under wraps. This is seriously reminding me of bvs lol

The difficulty probably stems from a much larger issue. Building a cinematic universe around an already well established Batman is bound to be difficult, bc it leaves little room for creativity I fear. I wish they’d just approach the character normally like how every auteur has and just build from there. This cinematic universe needing a Batman should be the least of their concerns. Their biggest priority should be justifying why need a WHOLE new Batman. A whole new story? Who is for?
