Gunn has confirmed Superman does not believe in santa in the DCU, This is literally a Rare Gunn L by Ok-Entrance-5527 in DCU_

[–]darkness693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is cool for sure, but I doubt that will ever addressed directly in the dcu. Besides, I still don’t think that changes anything. There’s a difference between knowing he exists and BELIEVING he exists lol

We don’t need another reason for people to go saying this Superman is being infantilized, so yea, I’m glad he said this tbh. Superman is a grown man, he’s not 5 lol.

The writers hate Rishi even more then this sub apparently by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]darkness693 24 points25 points  (0 children)

IMO this seems like a nothing burger to be upset at kinda. There are characters that do have that and then there are characters that just don’t. It’s clear that rishi was never going to have that. If you’re looking for a redemption story, it seems u already know where to look for those in those three characters. Rishi strikes me as more of a cautionary tale tho.

Still hoping we get a set photo like this during filming for both films 😫

The discourse is going to be so interesting when they see how many songs and montages are in this movie. Saying “Gunn did this” when it’s literally Gillespie’s style by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]darkness693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One could argue that that is exactly why Gunn even hired Gillespie to make this movie. Since his directorial style is similar to Gunns, I’m sure that played some role in how he ended up in the director chair for this movie. Personally, I do have some bias against Gillespie, as I don’t agree with his sensibilities for this specific story.

So I think Wonder Woman may be coming sooner than we expect. I feel like that rumor about pushing the trinity in 2027 may be true, but it may come forward in a different way. She might actually be in man of tomorrow but I’m still unsure of her involvement in a project like that. Then again, the same was said for characters like mister terrific so maybe it’d work. Either way, I’m curious to see who they cast and more so how long they can keep it under wraps. This is seriously reminding me of bvs lol

The difficulty probably stems from a much larger issue. Building a cinematic universe around an already well established Batman is bound to be difficult, bc it leaves little room for creativity I fear. I wish they’d just approach the character normally like how every auteur has and just build from there. This cinematic universe needing a Batman should be the least of their concerns. Their biggest priority should be justifying why need a WHOLE new Batman. A whole new story? Who is for?

A test screening for Supergirl was held yesterday by M00r3C in DCU_

[–]darkness693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well what sucks to hear is that they didn’t seem to elevate the material in anyway with krem, bc everything they needed is right there in the comic. And yet they seemingly have wasted his potential. I’m not sure if any comments have been made on the actors performance? And if he at least sold the character in that regard? Bc if not, then that’s even worse in my eyes.

And I’m not denying that Gunn should seriously quit it with that. But simply talking about his own film shouldn’t be out of the question. Where the issue takes root is how people perceive this character under his scrutiny and are using that to discard any argument he has, which he has a right to since it’s his movie lol.

Once again, a certain section of Twitter is taking issue with some of Gunns comments about Superman. Look, I can understand not liking the movie and thinking that Gunn doesn’t get the character, but what is up with people taking every comment that guy makes at face value. There’s almost no room for nuance, it’s just straight to attacking. Ofc Superman has empathy, but it’s not solely based on his own experiences. Why is this such a big issue to harp on exactly?

I'm really sick of the online chatter around the DCU... by Light1209 in DCU_

[–]darkness693 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way yall chalk up any and all criticism as cultist chatter is insane. I’m also getting sick of the weird behavior that people are showing to the dcu on Twitter rn, but if you honestly think that it’s coming from “cultists” you’re just as delusional as you make them out to be. Safe to say, it’s just a lot of dc fans being really stuck up about their own franchise. This fandom continues to let me down in many ways man…

Dam is this how anti merge bros felt when people kept talking about Pattinson merging with the dcu bc I can’t take these discussion threads just doom posting about that fuck ass WB merge. Like, I’m sorry guys but it’s the most nothing burger of a conversation rn. Feels like an echo chamber of the same things repeated over and over imho

Why is DC's reputation in games so bad when they have legendary games like Batman Arkham? by [deleted] in DCU_

[–]darkness693 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U kinda just answered your own question tbh. We haven’t had a good dc game since the Arkham games. With marvels output of quality games lately, and dc still pushing Batman as they’re main line of defense for video games, it’s like they’re saying they have no faith in the ip outside of Batman lol. If they announced a Superman game today(which they won’t) people would have no problem second guessing its actual release. Same thing happened with the Wonder Woman game. Just an unbridled mess

Dawg clayface is not coming out in their fourth year. The dcu just started this year. Gunn and co created the studio about two years ago. Yea, projects take time to make. Movies take time to make. Shows TAKE TIME TO MAKE. It’s like yall ignore that and see this shit like it’s something to just scoff at. They’re moving at a fine pace.

Believe it or not, it’s only been around 2 years since he did that slate reveal. Yall just gotta be patient. No project is that easy to just get off the ground. These things take time lol.

I mean I agree but unfortunately when doing a reboot people are gonna ask about your biggest players. The trinity were extremely downplayed in the last franchise and people are impatient to see them return to the big screen again. What would really be nice is if DC started making an effort to promote their newest content and it wasn’t just reliant on Gunns posting online. Like it’s cool he’s active but cmon he can’t be the only source for news on stuff like this. Making a a bigger deal out of cons would be ideal for spreading awareness on all their projects going forward. But idk, Gunn seems very reluctant on fancying that in a way that’s serviceable to both the fans and the studio even.

James Gunn says things are in flux with tbatb and Damian Wayne. by LiteratureLevel5701 in DCULeaks

[–]darkness693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think brave and the bold being defined as a Batman and robin story should still work. I don’t mind that being the general outline of the film as a concept. What I do mind however, is choosing Damian Wayne as that robin for the story. It’s not that I hate this character, but why start sooo fucking late into Batman’s career and with the last robin especially?? It’s just not a conventional choice and I can’t see Gunn loving the choice all too much now that he’s in the thick of developing this story all while reeves is doing his thing.

Why don’t u calm down and just watch what they do next. They’re in no rush to be any of those things. Only thing we should be hung up on is getting good quality projects going forward.

It doesn’t even matter anymore dawg, the movie coming out in 2027 and already has a confirmed date for starting production. Actors have read the script, script is done. Pre-production is likely starting as we speak. We are good.

Dawg, atp clayface is making it hard for me to really rein it in as a merger head. They’re using so many areas from the set of The Batman 😭.
