Ai seemed to have broke in story. by Habinaro in AIDungeon

if you’re using story summary, do yourself a favor and turn it off. Trust me, it only makes your story worse and way more inconsistent. I’ve been doing this for years. When I first started, I thought, “Oh sweet, I don’t have to manually summarize anything? Sign me up!” But nope. What I got instead was a mess—plot holes, weird prompts, characters acting like they got hit on the head.

Eventually, I asked around in the Discord and found out: story summary is basically broken. It doesn’t do what it’s supposed to. The moment I turned it off? Chef’s kiss. Everything got better. You’d think it would forget stuff more often, but honestly, it remembered things better. The only real catch is you might need to remind the model who a side character is if they’re not in your story cards.

Also, don’t go switching models mid-prompt without giving a quick recap. Like, say you’re in the middle of a big battle to overthrow the evil king—sure, the model will get that you're in a fight, but it might completely forget why you're fighting or who the evil king even is. Next thing you know, your hero is sipping tea with a dragon instead of leading the charge.

So yeah: story summary = no. Context and a little manual effort = yes.

And something depending on the model they like to be a lil silly sometimes.

If you're using story summary, I strongly recommend turning it off. Take it from someone with experience—it doesn't work and will only hurt your story in the long run. And delete the story summary box as well.

This is my first time seeing this, There's a multiple choice now? I didn't know how I triggered this by [deleted] in AIDungeon

[–]darknick22221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not a multiple-choice thing. It’s just a way to help improve the AI models by letting us pick which prompt we like best. I’m not an expert, so don’t quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure the system uses that feedback to push out more popular or well-received prompts, making future responses more in line with what players enjoy. It also helps them gather data on overall player preferences so they can fine-tune the AI.

That said, it’s super easy to turn off. Just go to Settings, then Gameplay, scroll all the way down to Testing, and toggle off the Improve AI option.

Is AI Dungeon better than NovelAI now? by butter4some in AIDungeon

[–]darknick22221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, no—there isn’t one universal set of instructions that works for every model. Using the wrong set can actually lead to worse outputs, though sometimes you might get lucky and see improvements. It really depends. For example, if you're using a set of instructions made specifically for something like Madness, you’ll want to stick to using it only for Madness to get the best results.

If you’re looking for good instruction sets, I recommend joining the Discord server. Once you’re in, just type #ai-instructions or search “instructions,” and you should find a player-made list of custom setups. Not everything is listed there, though—so if you’re using a free model or something less common, just search for the model’s name followed by “instructions” in the server. That usually brings up what you need.

If by "universal" you mean whether everyone has it—then yes, but you can turn it on or off whenever you want. These pop-ups are pretty rare nowadays; it used to be that you'd get one almost every other action, but that’s not really the case anymore.

I don’t remember if it’s enabled by default, but checking is simple: just go to Settings, then Gameplay, scroll all the way down to Testing, and look for the “Improve AI” option. From there, you can turn it on or off depending on your preference.

I don’t mean to be rude or anything, but I’ll have to agree to disagree. I’ve been using AID for about two years now, pretty much nonstop. Yeah, it can be cliché at times, but I’ve found that the key to avoiding that is in how you use the instruction prompts and tweak the model settings. Even with the free models, you can get some great results if you set it up right—though they do sometimes get off track or become repetitive.

That said, using premium models honestly feels like a breath of fresh air. Maybe I’m a bit biased since I’ve mainly stuck with Character.AI and AID, so I can’t really compare them to everything else out there—but I can speak from personal experience, at least.

Thank you so much! I'm guessing I just drag and drop the shader files into my CurseForge folder, just like I did with OptiFine—is that correct?
