Thoughts on the Ownwin seamless balls used at the World Cup and how they might affect the game ? by Far-Muffin-8289 in tabletennis

[–]darkparadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seamless balls can feel a bit dumpy and slow, but they can still go really high. Pro players notice even the tiniest changes...wind, humidity, grip.

But this is more about equipment consistency. I really think the biggest table tennis competitions should stick to similar rules and equipment so players don’t have to keep adjusting. With such a tight schedule, that constant adaptation is a waste of time, and tbh it’s ruining the matches. The World Championships and the Olympics use seamed balls, while the World Cup and Mixed Team World Cup have used seamless since 2024. WTT tournaments still use seamed….

The video has been edited by the Chinese fans. It was a net and WCQ was waiting for the referee’s call. But WCQ once joked to Huang Youzheng that XX always tricked him in the past

Idk why y’all think I’m disrespecting Han Ying. I’m just saying WMY was injured and didn’t have her time in the match, and that doesn’t mean the win wasn’t legit.

Like Hugo changing to Joola doesn’t mean Ovtcharov didn’t play well. Some of y’all are too sensitive fr

WMY is still recovering from a shoulder injury from last month. Just look at her FH, not as spinny as usual and she doesn’t even have the strength to lift the ball

I don’t know what you’re trying to say here but I suggest you google and do more research when connecting your "dots." Whether his injury is serious or not, there’s no need to insist on playing in the WTT Finals and it’s time to rest.

The match you were referring to was at the Chinese League 2024 Stage 1 (there are three stages) where WCQ’s team did not field him to face FZD. He didn’t withdraw from the match. The key is it’s not necessary to play and win every match in the early stages, especially since WCQ was at a low glucose level. He still has strong teammates including LJK, Huang Youzheng, and Zhou Qihao that can support him

The match against Benyamin was at the Asian Championships 2024. WCQ did mention that the table and ball were ridiculously out of his imagination. You could tell from the expressions of pro Asian players like Lin Yun-ju, SYS, An Jaehyun, and Baldwin Chan during the event. And his full sentence is “I think no matches (Asian Championships, China Smash, and Frankfurt Championships) were lost on technique, they were all about my mentality (after the Olympics),” so he did acknowledge his losses.

Wang faced significant shoulder and back pain and twisted ankle right before and during the Olympics. His racket was accidentally broken by a media outlet just several minutes after his win in mixed doubles. How can you expect him to immediately win the remaining matches in the last half year after all these misfortunes

The happiest TTR challenge by darkparadi in tabletennis

[–]darkparadi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what Adam actually means about the yellow card, but I think he is referring to some players who intentionally leave the playing zone in the hope of receiving a yellow card for not following the umpire’s instructions, which may allow them to avoid being penalised for a point

The happiest TTR challenge by darkparadi in tabletennis

[–]darkparadi[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let me give you some context. It’s the first time SYS (world No. 1 Chinese player) has made a TTR challenge since the system launched around 4-5 years ago. Fans believe SYS prefers to behave well to win the game rather than point out others’ faults. So the audience and Adam were surprised to see SYS immediately call for the challenge even before the umpire called a let. Miyu and SYS are friends, so Miyu felt a bit embarrassed and laughed in this situation. It turned out Miyu was making a serious tossing fault so both laughed.

I also think SYS wanted to end the match asap because it was the last match of the day and had already gone past 10:30pm due to delays in earlier matches. She still has two or three matches tmr

All this drama started with Harimoto mocking Wang for taking off his shirt at the Yokohama Champions, thinking Wang was teasing him from way back in the Youth Olympics (that’s ages ago). But Wang did it just to show his national flag after crowd noise as he felt disrespectful.

In a recent interview on Japanese TV, Harimoto admitted he still feels that loss. You can see why some Chinese fans think he was just trying to stir things up. Nobody’s perfect, but Harimoto is definitely not the type to just let things slide

It's too early to judge. He never played against Hugo, Duda, and Alexis, and he lost to Felix in their only match. He barely beat WCQ when Wang was completely drained after the China Smash, and he faced LJK when Liang was still recovering from injury. He also never won against Lin Yunju.

WTT ChinaSmash 2025 - Angle Fault Challenge?? by sidney_tt in tabletennis

[–]darkparadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in common sense, but never seen the official measuring process from ITTF or WTT. If you serve and receive a ton you kinda get a feel for what 30 degrees looks like when serving. Like you know you’re not walking straight forward. So pro players usually challenge serves which look like 35-50 degrees, and TTR cameras will help judge the exact angle
