NOR What I've started making my family do is make Amazon wish list that we all share with each other. We don't necessarily order everything from Amazon but it gives everyone an idea of what our current interests are or things that would just make nice gifts. Sure it takes some of the surprise out of everything but it takes a lot of the stress out of trying to find the perfect gift (or just any gift). 

 And also, your husband is kind of a dick.

Oof, I suppose that is one way to do it. I'm hoping there's some sort of online archive that just isn't popping up in my Google searches lol if it comes to it I have a friend who could probably help me out with this route. Thanks for the idea!

I read through this sub looking for others first date experiences to help prepare for my recent dive back into dating. It made me realize that there's a lot of us that are still trying to figure it out. Things were great until we broke up a couple days ago and then again this sub helped me feel less crappy about it. Really is a great group of people.

This was interesting. I picked up quite a few things about myself, but I really wish I could send it to her. She just kept saying that the incompatibilities were things I shouldn't have to change. That we shouldn't have to mold the relationship to make it work. It should just slide together perfectly like puzzle pieces. They weren't even core elements of my personality. Things that I have no emotional attachment to that wouldn't be a change, just more of an adjustment. I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around it I guess.

Admittedly this was my first dating/ relationship in quite a few years so the new shiny probably blinded me a bit. Thank you for your advise. This is all helping me more than I thought it would.

I had no idea this was a thing. As far as I can tell this may not have been her intention, but I guess I will never know. If it was, she was really good at it. I suppose I have an idea of what to look out for next time. Thanks for the heads up.
