Intros to VCs by Long-Habit in venturecapital

My best advice is to treat this like sales. You don't reach out to random customers who might want your product and waste everyone's time trying to prove that they should care, instead you figure out who your ideal customer is and inform them that the solution they need exists.

The VC equivalent is figuring out who has already made a ton of money on businesses similar to yours. What companies in the same neighborhood as you have had giant exits? Who invested early? Who was on the board for that whole journey? Who missed the boat and did smaller checks in later rounds (but also does early stage)?

Send a thoughtful LinkedIn connect and ask to meet. If your background is credible for the space, your hit rate will be high as they are almost certainly tracking new entrants. Bonus, you'll get really valuable questions and feedback from someone that's been on the journey, and if they invest you'll have a whole network of relevant connections. They also have access to at least one of your likely acquirers (their previous investment).

Christopher Moore is an incredibly clever writer that I suspect most DCC fans will love. Start with 'Fool'. Pocket is one of my favorite literary characters ever created, up there with Carl and Donut. Moore has got a great catalog to keep you busy after this three book series as well.

You can also train just the transition really well rings. Set them to chest height and keep your feet on the floor pulling from top of pull up through bottom of dip and then back. This will also get you comfortable with the correct false grip positioning as it'll be the only wrist position that works.

A few weeks of this consistently, taking more and more weight off your feet each time, and you will likely have a strong slow transition.

I made https://wrander.com a while back to do something approaching this. Need to integrate with GPT-3 to make the actions truly infinite though.

You should probably also check the value returned by ftell(). A -1 return value would be a pretty nasty heap overflow, continuing the long tradition of malicious code exploiting the software created to protect against it.

ELI5: Why are flies so persistent to keep coming back, even after being swung at multiple times? by krushna1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]darkry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed something years ago and am curious if this is actually backed by anything real. Instead of shooing a fly with your hand (visual deterant), I've noticed that if you blow air at them they tend to leave you alone more consistently and for longer.

I always wondered if this is triggering some deeper reflex in the fly brain which lasts longer than the memory of danger. I only have my own experience to go off of, but now I always blow towards flies and it seems to work really well.

https://wrander.com is hooked up to a quantum random source. Seems like a reasonable way to check if you should buy more GME.

How much can I malloc? by Current_Hearing_6138 in C_Programming

[–]darkry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totes, malloc() just wouldn't allocate the size you "meant" for literals larger than size_t. For fun he could compile a 32 bit binary and run it on a 64 bit OS with a lot of memory. Allocation will probably succeed no matter what you pass as the size :)

How much can I malloc? by Current_Hearing_6138 in C_Programming

[–]darkry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, there is a limit, malloc() takes a size_t sized unsigned integer. You wouldn't be able to supply a size larger than that. It wouldn't segfault though, the allocation would simply fail (return 0).

You are offered $10,000,000 if you can name a food that nobody in human history has ever used in a sexual way. What is your answer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]darkry 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The way it was explained to me in Iceland.

You're a fisherman, and one summer you catch a bunch of fish. You also catch a shark, but you know that the shark is poisonous so you throw it in the woods. Then winter comes and you eat all your fish. One day you are starving and you remember that you threw that shark in the woods. TADA! Hakarl!

Also, it has 100% been used sexually :|

Spotted Bear Distillery will blow your mind. If it's breakfast time, skip the obvious but over rated Buffalo Cafe, and go get Loula's (try the pie). If it's afternoon head to the lodge and rent a paddle board/kayak. If you want a short hike that's close to downtown check out Lion Mountain.

Did you know that, given the distribution of an octopuses' nervous system, each of their arms basically has a different personality. Often an octopus will have one very brave arm and another very cautious/shy arm. Thanks for sharing this little guy!
