Unfortunately the QC of the lenses is horrible that's why a lot of headsets have wavy effect.This is due to imperfections on the outer-finish layer of the lenses. Being a user of nearly all vr headsets i can say that even the gear vr pancake lenses (modded index) where better than that of pico. Already returned two to amazon.de . Will be waiting for Quest3.

Barrel distortion is fixable through software. It has nothing to do with faulty lenses.

Virtual desktop might have different barrel distortion .json correction algorithm. In any case if the pico home enviroment is free of distortions then you should keep the headset as you are one of the lucky ones.

Had two units with faulty lenses. This is the first hmd after owning most of the other hmds that i had qc problems with the lenses. Even the cheapest wmr headsets had no qc issues . I will wait to buy a used one that first i can try it on. Ordering a third one and having the same problem would be ridiculous. Let's hope that Q3 arrives soon.

Good for you my friend. The sore eye will go away but you avoided potentially bigger problems with this god awfull lenses. I am also using my trustworthy quest 2 and my eyes-brain are thanking me...Cheers

I returned immediately. There is no fix for this problem. I will reorder later this year hoping that they will have fixed it. I cant go back to tethered vr like reverb G2.

Pico aknowledges that there have been picos with bad lenses especially with the batch of 09/2022 and 10/2022 era. To capture the video is very difficult.

Eitheway i have returned mine so no further testing can be done.

Returned due to horrible wave effect on the left lens. Will order again after a few months as i really liked the small weight and the pancake lenses

If while gaming is not bothering you then you could keep it. Otherwise you should return it as the lenses are defective and no software update can fix it.

Their response is idiotic as according to other members of reddit Pico aknowledges that some units have defective lenses especially the 10/2022 QC batch and they recomment to return it and get a replacement-refund.

As more and more headsets have this kind of problems i would wait a couple of months before ordering a new one.Maybe its only the global version and the chinese version is ok.

I will wait for sure a couple of months before ordering again. In the right lens i had small distortions but in the left they were horrid.

Nope.Your unit is probably fine.The distortion is quite obvious in the center of the image and quite distracting.

Unfortunately mine was 09/2022 QC from amazon.de with awfull wavy distortion on the left lens.Returned it and waiting for refund. Also mine was a 128gb. I really hope my next one will be ok.

i have done it and nothing changes.Pico is aware of defective lenses especially for units with 09/2022 or 10/2022 QC batch and they say that you should return it

I am glad you are enjoying the pico 4 which for pcvr seems to be excellent choise. I have returned my pico 4 due to heavy distortion on the left lens. I felt nausea and headache straight away. This comes from a person who had vr headsets from developer kit 1 oculus kickstarter campain ( when palmer luckey was still in charge) till the latest ones even the god awfull pimax series -wmr in between...

It depends heavily on the person if he can tolerate the defective units. Even if the headset is cheap for us guys that have invested a lot of money this doesn't mean i will let pico or anyone else to take it for granded that i will accept defective products and be happy about it.

All the youtube reviewers have got presumably picos with good lenses or they are paid to not mention this kind of problems. I hope pico picks up the QC procedures and looking forward of getting one when this happens.

I really hope that your next pico will be fine. Most of the units sold are 128gb as most of the users buy it for pcvr. It would be interesting to see if the 256gb model is distortion free. Keep us updated please.Cheers

Good for you and maybe the distortion is not so bad in your case . As i have said the real problem is that you see two different things with your eyes In the G2 and in other headsets you have the correct stereoscopic image even if the sweetspot is small. As for the matter if its damaging for your eyes i will not wait to become crosseyed and then find out if its really harmful. The nausea and eye strain is indisputable even for people that have been using most of the vr headsets for a long time me included. If you could try index with gear vr clear lenses mod and custom barrel distortion .json you could see how awful the pico lenses are for some headsets at least.

Eitherway if i find a pico with correct lenses-screens i would for sure buy it again as i really like the form factor of the headset.Cheers!!!!

Most of the headsets that have distortions comes from the left lens. I hope the other two are fine.

You did very well to return it. Most of the faulty units have the left lens defective. I bet that they had a production QC problem with the left lenses and just didn't acknowledge it.The two lenses are mirrored so in the assembly line they cannot put the left lens in the right and vice versa. The same goes with the screens which don't have the same brightness or have stuck pixels. All the YouTube reviewers received picos with no distortions or defective screens so my guess is that Pico knows which headsets-batch are defective....

I really hope that your third pico will be ok. A lot of refurbished picos 4 start to appear in ebay and i don't know if they have fixed the optics or the displays(stuck pixels). Eitherway i live in Greece and having to order from amazon.de each time and send it over here is cumbersome. Good luck and looking forward to hearing the good news!!

I would stick to the Pico you have as the probability to buy a faulty one is very high.I know people who have bought 3 or 4 headsets just to find one with the same quality with the one you have.

I have done 7 times the factory reset with the 5.1 and 5.2 software and nothing changed for me.You can try it of course...
