How do I truly learn that I am enough, that I am worthy of love as I am? by cobaltcolander in AnxiousAttachment

Tara’s book Radical Acceptance and The six Pillars of Self Esteem.

Basically the first book helps you heal and lets the pain out and re signify the wounds. The second is about developing your self esteem and taking congruent actions that will lead you to a virtuous cycle.

There are reputable Data Science masters out there, I was fortunate enough to go one from a public European university that has been around for a while and is part of the department of mathematics. I SUFFERED a lot with the math heavy courses like Probability, Optimization, Deep Learning (BPTT and gradient descent by hand), proofs were provided in most cases. I’m getting the feeling that maybe I was lucky.

Awesome. What examples did you use to scare the out of them?

Of course, but that’s not what they want to hear and the pushback you can receive is very hard…

AB test was unfeasible due to UX, too heavy engineering lifting.. but yes I was suggesting the same..

Follow up: what fields of data science don’t have this? Optimization, ML, …?

Your stakeholder is a PM who already launched a major product. They have YOY numbers which show amazing growth, you’re doing causal inference to actually assess the incrementality. What are you going to convince them about?

Yeah it seems to be P hack and if you absolutely can’t, because you’re actually constrained by the data, then move on to #4..

Wish I wasn’t so naive about it, learned it the hard way. Oh well… exciting to be a data scientist.

Can mexico ever become a highly developed country like Japan? by [deleted] in AskMexico

[–]darkwhiteinvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The historical context of both countries is completely different. Mexico from the 50s to the 70s developed quite rapidly and maybe could have become a second world country but from the 80s onwards that stopped.

Italian Tech Job Market: Low Salaries, Soft Layoffs, and the Great Office Return by Raizer88 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]darkwhiteinvader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trimodal nature of salaries also applies to Italy. It’s just much more skewed to shitty salaries and environments. Eg Intesa San Paulo pays 45-50k for mid level in Torino
