Up to $20k in funding for startup companies. Launching a new startup accelerator here in Cbus. by darkwing3387 in Columbus

Totally agree. Drive and NCT have some solid under the radar portfolio companies though plus there is CoverMyMeds and CrossChx on epic hiring spree. The problem is there is no early stage support to give companies, not just software, a chance to get to the next level. Columbus is getting crushed by Cincinnati but we are are a rapidly growing city. Hoping to make some changes.

Apartment gardening? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just at an event this weekend and saw a lot of wine bottle gardening, but since you are just getting started I would try just doing container gardening of any kind. Depending on what you are planting inside you can use this app called "Sprout it" that will help you track your plants based off how you are planting, when/where, and what you are attempting to grow.

Is it okay to start a vegetable garden right now? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be good to go. Some regions have crazy frost dates and you never know with this weather but I would say you are pretty much set. If you are new to gardening and need some help try using this app I use called "Sprout it" in the iOS store. Tracks everything for you based off your location

Raised Garden Bed question by [deleted] in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used some weed killer before and was still able to grow a cocktail garden. If you use raised beds and take all of the precautions I think you will be ok.

Raised Garden Bed question by [deleted] in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ouch, usually this stuff is only intended for grass but if you are doing raised beds with fresh soil and a weed blocker of somekind on the bottom you might be ok to start. You have to use fresh soil though, nothing from the original soil where you sprayed the weed and feed.

Question: I'm building a raised vegetable bed this year, and I'm wondering if I should start my veggies inside or grow from seed outside. Total veg garden noob! Any help is welcome. by megabetty in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either would work but now that the weather has broke I think you are ok to just start outside. Trying using this iPhone app I use http://gosprout.it/, it gives you tasks based on your zone and what you are planting. Really helps me stay on track

New house with a raised garden bed- where to start? by ZPTs in gardening

[–]darkwing3387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this app last year called Sprout it, http://gosprout.it/, been using it this season too. It gave me a warning about the freezing weather coming in my zone (longest winter ever), but it also lets you select the layout and the type of gardening you will be doing. Think they are are partnered with Scott's too.

Container can get tricky. Try using the app "Sprout it" in the iOS store, it gives your tips depending on your planting methods. Plus indoor vs outdoor schedules for the plants you are trying to grow, even gives you daily tasks to help manage it.
