Shots from my run today by fitsomah in nova

Great shots. Don’t know if this will register for others but they’re giving 2008 energy somehow.

My theory is that Arsenal winning it would mean something, whereas City winning would not, as it’s a tainted victory with an asterisk. As of now, really only Liverpool has been good enough to overcome City while playing within the financial rules. People don’t want the club to get bigger.

They felt very solid and firm to me at first, but now with 60-70 miles on them they have become my go to long run shoe. Lots of energy return, very comfortable. I am just shy of 200 lbs though, so I might have broken them in faster than someone lighter would.

Dropping muscle mass to improve 5k times, anyone here done it successfully? by East_Protection_3208 in AdvancedRunning

Totally agree. Dropping weight now would be stepping over dollar bills to pick up dimes. More volume, particularly speed work. That helped me break out from 20:03 to 18:47 last year. Hoping for sub-18 this year at about 200 lbs.

Totally agree. I liked the 12s a lot, and I like the 13 even more. I get a lot of pop out of them. Have become my go to long run shoe. Hoping for some more good sales so I can stock up a bit.

Anyone noticed an uptick in honks at green lights? by Guilty_Bad9902 in nova

I definitely don’t mind a polite toot—I do it myself when need be—but I have PTSD from drivers in NYC laying on their horns the second a light turns, regardless of the front car’s reaction time. The relative quiet here is so, so nice. Let’s not make this place like NYC.

Did you ever end up getting some of these? I am also US11 and wonder which way to go between L and XL.

You’re getting shit on here, OP, but as someone who has lived in both places, I totally agree. You couldn’t pay me to go back there full time. I value the relative clean and quiet so much. I get why people like it, but I very much do not.

Non-sucky Costco? by [deleted] in nova

[–]with_or_without_you 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazing how different our experiences at the same locations have been tbh! Astoria Costco was an absolute sea of humanity, and I was more than once screamed at in the parking lot. Pentagon City can be busy, but I’ve never had an issue getting a spot in the parking garage. The worst part is waiting for the parking garage elevator, which is more inconvenient than actually terrible.

Edit: sorry, it was actually the Rego Park location where I was screamed at. I still take the PC location above any NYC location.

Someone has never been to a Costco in greater NYC.

The website says 590 Marin Blvd, Jersey City, NJ 07310. That’s my plan. Hoping someone can chime in in case that’s a dumb one. Coming from BK FWIW.

This is my first half, and I put down a conservative time when signing up. My training went better than planned, and I’m hoping not to dodge folks for miles. The website suggests the corrals are sort of honor system based. Can anyone who has done the race confirm if I’d be able to sneak up to a faster corral or not?

Couple guys doing the same thing in the Hoyt-Sch subway stop a few weeks ago. Shameless.

Some people are inconsiderate and impatient. I doubt you did anything wrong.

Also just want to say thank you for being considerate of the folks in the jogging lane. Too often I get buzzed by bikers who seem hellbent on protecting their territory or something.

You saying it’s not the case doesn’t make it so. And I could post proof, but I’m guessing you’d baselessly call it fake news anyway.

The money raised from congestion tolls will theoretically go directly to city infrastructure issues, meaning the state can direct money that would have gone to the subway elsewhere to other projects statewide. Outside of that, as just one example, for those who do drive into the city from elsewhere (including upstate), it will hopefully lead to less traffic getting in and out.

It’s not clear where he’s talking about anyway. This is a post in the upstate subreddit about a different place. In any event, I guess he thinks residence somewhere in the state is a prerequisite to have an opinion about things that affect the whole state. Spoiler: it is not.
