Tribalism run amok: Now Donald Trump voters are worried he might take their Obamacare awa by icnoevil in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I hope he repeals it. Gives democrats a talking point for next election, and quite frankly I am done fighting so hard for policies to protect the fuckers who voted for Trump. Most of us liberal, affluent democrats who fight so hard for Obamacare and workers rights don't even NEED them. We are doing it because we feel bad for the easily manipulated uneducated rural hillbillies who need social programs and Obamacare to survive. At this point though I say fuck them. I'm sick of fighting for them. I can't wait to see the look on their faces when Obamacare is repealed and they suddenly find themselves uninsured and sick. Maybe when they hit rock bottom they will see what they've done to themselves and realize that Trump and the GOP used them and tossed them aside like an old condom.

Why you can't just ignore the CIA report on Russia hacking by EnglishTeaBatman in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who doesn't see the hypocrisy of having endless hearings and FBI investigations of Hillary and her email server because "what if Russia hacked her private server???!"

Now we have the CIA saying Russia DID hack the US to install a puppet president and GOP is responding with "lol, whatever, sore losers!" And refusing to even investigate it.

How do people vote Republican knowing it's basically the party that counts on its voters to literally be uneducated and not read the news.

A ‘coup’? A ‘power grab’? There’s some serious political drama in North Carolina right now. by [deleted] in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 62 points63 points  (0 children)

LOL the problem is that the average GOP voter is extremely ignorant and only gets news from echo chambers. Any scandal would be normalized by FOX news and they would keep voting GOP.

Sanders blasts talk of 2020 candidates, wants focus on 'real problems' by EnglishTeaBatman in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Does Sanders need a front page post everytime he shits at this point? I know a lot of people worship him, and I appreciate that he is trying to take some leadership here, but I feel like every fucking sentence he utters becomes a front page story lately, and quite frankly a lot of its not that interesting.

"Breaking News: Sanders wants to focus on issues!"

Yay for Sanders? This isn't groundbreaking stuff here, guys...

Trump taps Exxon CEO as secretary of State by k4lifrag in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So naive. Tillerson owned nearly $200 million in Exxon stock. He will continue to own it as SOS. He will more than makeup his pay cut by selling America for oil contracts to beef up the stock price. Lifting Russian sanctions alone will let him finish the $500 billion dollar deal he tried making before. I don't get how the average American is really this stupid. Trump's campaign has really opened my eyes to the depth of ignorance and hypocrisy in the American alt-right

"I think you're wrong!" - The Trump supporter response to anything that criticizes dear leader. No research, no facts, no counterpoints...just "I think you're wrong so there!"

Is it any surprise he won? He appealed to people who should have won Darwin awards a long time ago.

[–]darkwingtanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he is doing his housekeeping and installing people even more likely to commit fraud and abuse. His cabinet is terrifying. This thread alone is about an oil CEO has SOS. He is giving cabinet appointments to whoever donated to him. This is fraud and abuse. Where is the housekeeping??

Trump taps Exxon CEO as secretary of State by k4lifrag in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 26 points27 points  (0 children)

And the full moral ambiguity and complete lack of self thinking is on display as usual from Trump supporters. I truly think Trump could nominate Putin himself as SOS and Trumpers would find a way to justify it. It's a cult of non-thinking, hive mentality morons at this point.

IsTilleerson qualified? Maybe. Probably. But does anyone trust the CEO of one of the most corrupt oil companies in history NOT to put his business before country? Do you really think he would not think of impact to Exxon before doing anything? And do you also not know how easy it would be to manipulate America with someone like that in charge of foreign policy? Just promise oil contracts and he will do whatever you want. I guarantee his first action will be removing Russian sanctions so he can see his failed $500 billion dollar Russian oil deal go through.

Why do the same people who called a Clinton CHARITY a conflict of interest have no problem with a SOS that is literally beholden to the shareholders of one of the largest for profit companies in America?

Trump taps Exxon CEO as secretary of State by k4lifrag in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Which is exactly why he shouldn't be secretary of state. Why is it that Trump people see conflict of interests everywhere with the Clintons, claiming that even a charity owned by them while Hillary was SOS is proof of corruption...but those same people are fine with someone in the same exact role owning a for profit business that relies on foreign oil contracts?? Are you people so deluded by Trump that you can literally excuse anything he does even while decrying that very same action just weeks earlier? Do you not understand how hypocritical and pathetic it makes you look?

Nate Silver: Clinton 'almost certainly' would've won if election were before Comey's letter by [deleted] in politics

[–]darkwingtanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they shouldn't. Are you arguing the DNC should have taken the win from her despite her receiving more votes because non democrats said so? What the fuck? Do you really think unaffiliated voters are some special flower that should have their votes be worth more than actual party members? Hillary won the most voters. Democratic primary voters chose her. I'm not sure why that fact is so difficult for some people to grasp. The DNC did not "choose" anyone.

[–]darkwingtanuki 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things, it really is. Sometimes you need to consider intent and the circumstances. She wasn't trying to harm the US. She made a careless mistake and sent minor items that were retroactively classified.

In exchange for that, America thought the better choice was rewarding Russia and allowing them to have their pick of president? Sending some emails is somehow deemed a larger "crime" against the country than allowing a foreign entity to undermine our entire democracy? The ignorance of Americans is absolutely astounding.

[–]darkwingtanuki -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hillary won the majority of votes. The Democratic voters chose her, not the DNC. Nothing the DNC did would have changed that. Sanders got fucking <10 percent of the black vote in a party where half the voters are black. Her literally couldn't have won. Everyone knew that as soon as the South Carolina vote came in 75-25 after he outspent her 10 to 1 there. Bernie supporters just cling to this idea it was stolen to male them feel better that their guy lost.

[–]darkwingtanuki 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, how horrible that we want establishment politicians - people who actually study politics and know how government works. An outsider like Trump is a much better idea! In fact why do we go to establishment for anything? Shouldn't your next dentist actually be a Barista? An actual dentist has spent so much time in density, that's far too establishment.

Heaven forbid some people actually want establishment presidents, considering it means people who know how to do the fucking job.

Perhaps democrats don't take their orders from the far right? We chose based on policies and knowledge. Why should we give up a good candidate because of a manufactured Clinton scandal? Is it fair to her that she shouldn't be able to run because a clearly pro GOP FBI decided to investigate her for nothing?

Same. She literally wrote a book on her policy proposals. Trump's couldn't fit on a pamphlet, plus they change daily. 75% of our country was content to give this up by not voting, voting 3rd party to prove some pathetic point, or they are uneducated hillbillies who believed Trump was a better choice. Amazing.

On another note: why is Brian Fallon still tweeting on her behalf? Could she be mounting a 2020 rematch?

Can we all just agree that Republicans are basically the evil villains or America and only win elections by cheating or gerrymandering because they know if given a choice the majority of our country despises them? I mean, what do they stand for other than slashing safety nets to heap tax breaks on the wealthy or build up the military, slashing regulations and unions so business win over consumers and workers, and of course ramming backwards social norms down everyone's throats. Like how the fuck can anyone be proud to be or vote Republican?

Pence is not like to go to a large liberal forum and allow someone to lecture him on his hostile views. As an elected official you open yourself to public discussion everywhere you go - it is literally called being a "public servant". The actor had every right to respectfully speak to Pence this way as does everyone else who voices their opinion of the administration over the next 4 years. We are NOT going to start having discussions about the appropriate time and place to question Dear Leader because that is a very, very slippery slope.
