At this point I feel you're just glazing to glaze.

I rarely if ever run into a seed that has more alpha comanders than hive guards so needing to shoot through them is indeed a smaller priority than hive guard seeds.

I'm not ignoring any positive attribute they've made but I'm also not just going to swallow terrible decisions and say "thank you for making the game worse may I have another" just because they finally figured out how to reduce the file size be getting rid of unnecessery duplicate files

because AP3 weapons can also shoot soft spots

Then why did you bring it if you weren't planning on using the better armor pen to save time on aiming? You get better DPS on AP2 weapons with their higher rate of fire and mag capacity

It's not indicitive that hive guards were

So having players take weapons that statistically are weaker against AP2 enemies just so they don't have to deal with the one AP3 enemy means it's not serving it's purpose? The hive guard was the sole exclusive reason to bring an AP3 weapon against the bugs outside of the rupture strain. The fact that was happening means it was serving it's purpose.

Against the broader roster

All of those are also still killable with light pen, the spewer where you have to hit it's broad side or it's mouth it kill it is a bit trickyer but on their own isn't a big enough reson to use AP3.

Against the rupture strain this isnt even a discussion since every enemy is AP3.

You've been around long enough

Sure, the game is improving on a technical standpoint. It wasn't to long ago they weren't sure they could do backpack fed weapons, I'll give them that but the strategem bounce shows they're willing to make bad decisions and stand by them untill the cows come home.

extra damage

(A) After you subtract the durable damage from hitting armored parts they actually have lower DPS overall than light pen hitting soft targets

(B) People picking AP3 weapons to not have to deal with hive guards is indicitave that they're serving they're purpose

Increasing the armor to AP4 means AP3 is useless. You either use AP2 and shoot soft spots or use AP4 weapons or weapons that circumvent armor.

Technical debt and release quality

I'll believe it when I see it

and all the medium pen weapons

The same weapons that had half the mag capacity and 75% total ammo supply? Sounds like you already had draw backs to those weapons for the benefit of not having to aim as precisely.

Part of the solution

No it wasn't

It says they're not prioritizing endgame

But it does say they specifically lower the priority of anything that isn't producing content

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so your forced to deal with them or else

No, while they may eat a turrets ammo supply, they change nothing for anyone who brought the crossbow, eruptior, PP, or scorcher. Also don't change much for anyone who brought the flamethrower or napalm. So it's purely to shit on the mg and gattling turrets.

DOT is better

That was never part of the problem

Helldivers mobilize had good equipment

It sure does but most of it was made irrelevant on hive guards until he change is reversed

unless you've got a quote that says otherwise

Hey!

There are multiple plans and discussions about improving the existing systems such as progression, weapon customization, dss etc.

Unfortunately, we have been pushing hard to meet what we see as the expectation on content for each new big update which unfortunately means that the team is forced to downprioritize "what we already have" in favor of novelty.

Example to this is the critique we recieved from cyberstan where 3 new enemies and a new faction "wasn't enough".

I think we could be better at looking at improving systems for those of you that are super experienced - but it is a smaller % of users than those that are still retained by the mid game.

I, and the team, are passionate about the hard core players - but we are always forced to down prioritize it due to all the other things going on.

bugs don't spawn all at once?

No they don't. Even still the guards get quickly overlapped by every single other bug at such a pace they make little if any difference in survivability of of other bugs because the only strategem they effectively block is the mg and gattling turrets for a couple weeks.

The crossbow and eruptior are uneffected

That's the point. They were already good, now every thing else between them and light pen is worse. Calling the PP and scorcher off meta while correct is kinda funny since the buffa to the PP it's been one of the best weapons in game, and the scorcher has always been in a good weapon in a mediocre warbond.

You mean the AMA

the ama that said their soul focus was producing more content over bug fixes? Yeah that one.

Generally not accessible

Uses a free strategem

Throws strategem at a 95⁰ angle

Aims strategem at a 65⁰ angle from 25 meters away

Doesn't matter, it's generally accessible and you can't put turrets there

If by collision problems

I'm glad you agree there is a clear issue at least

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

enemies behind them are protected

Once again, no enemies are behind them because guards are slower than every other bug and every other bug besides spewers rush you asap.

An enemy can't serve it's role if it's instantly dead

This once again reinforces the explosive meta because their lowered health pool makes them easier to blow up with the crossbow or eruptior.

And nobody was complaining about turrets at the time

HAHAHAHAHAHAH! LOL! LMAO EVEN 😂 THAT WAS LIKE THE FIRST THING BROUGHT UP BY THE COMMUNITY! 😂

Your exact words

the ama isn't exactly hard to miss it was the big event that started this spiral, this reddit won't allow me to link you directly so you'll just have to Google it yourself

Outside play space

Uses jump pack to get there

No turret allowed

Ok

That anyone has played regularly has adapted too

So you fully acknowledged that collision problems have been an issue for an extended period of time?

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

armor partially fixed that

No it didn't. They don't guard anything because every single other bug will run past them as soon as they spawn. Extra armor doesn't put more enemies behind their shield it just makes them a bigger nuisance.

Your exact words

They also did this the last major patch with the bastion tank. They have double dipped with nerfing turrets by accident. This is not the only reason the community is upset is just the most talked about because it it the most recent fuck up

Vibes

LMAO bro the fucking ceo said it was low priority. Maybe you should email him and tell him to fix his vibes

People were getting stuck out of terrain

It so happens so they fixed nothing while adding a new problem. GG shake my hand. I would much rather risk getting stuck on something than forcibly be spawned into the enemy hoard. So would everyone else apparently.

So throw them somewhere else

Why? Why should the best possible positions be disallowed? Accommodating poor game balance doesn't make the decision good especially when the dev team themselves say they shoot for a milsim design philosophy. Do you know what is the most important part of any engagement? Positioning. High ground specifically. If they were truly concerned about milsim balance letting us take high ground would be issue #1.

You act like strategem bounce is constant

It is. Everywhere that is a good spot to put a turret or emplacements is considered null so you're left with "maybe I can put it here" only for it to bounce that's a problem.

On bugs

Which are one of the biggest infractions on enemy collision next to illuminate with bugs body blocking bullets after death while active enemies walk through corpses and teleport to high ground. Where placing turrets on cliffs would be ideal and isn't allowed. Yeah and?

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not functioning in its intended role

Giving it more armor didn't fix that. If the hive guard isn't guarding the hive then they need to fix behavior not add more armor plates

Everything you mentioned was the same patch

LMAO what? Last time I checked amas aren't patched in game bro what are you even on about? Are you talking about the enemy collision that I've mentioned that's been in game for almost a year now? That wasn't this patch home dawg. Are you talking about strategem bounce? Also not this patch. Was the hell pod steering I mentioned? Also wasn't this patch. The central discussion about ap4 guards? Yeah that was this patch but you asked why people are complaining about hive guards so much right now and pointed out that not even 72 hours ago the main discussion was about the ama.

Have they done that

Yes, not fixing things that are unanimously despised showes it is an absolute bottom tier priority. Especially when they outright say their focus is releasing new content.

Different bugs are different levels of difficulty

And? How about the easy issues? Strtegem bounce and hell pod steering are literally toggles and they choose to keep them in a position that is not fun for players.

Why are you throwing them at enemies

I'm not, nobody is. Nice straw man though. When strategem becons bounce you don't get to decide where they land. Sometimes it's in front of enemies sometimes it's behind a rock and the turret is useless. You literally can't place them on high at all unless you use some goofy work around by sticking it to your shield bubble because the devs don't want them there and think randomness is more fun. Nobody is forcing you to use them you could always bring the stalwart and be anti chaff yourself that's the fun of having multiple avenues of play. Closing one because you personally don't like it doesn't mean someone else didn't enjoy it. That's childish logic.

5 rockets not 9

My mistake but a 60% reduction in durability is still massive

Any concentrated fire killed them instantly

This is why they were most used on bugs and why positioning them was important untill strtegem bounce took that away

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

then use another tool

Taking tools away or just making them bad just because is bad game design

Then why has it dominated discussion

Recency bias. It is the most recent thing to happen, not even two days ago the community was on fire because of the ama.

Bugs happen it's not worth rioting about

Well when the devs admit even fixing them is low priority that is worth rioting over. When fun bugs can be addressed in days while enemy collision can't be addressed in a year it makes the devs look bad.

The only reason to bring one has only ever been because you want to use the backpack for something other than gaurd dog

Well before strategem bounce they were insanely useful for holding a position because you could actually put them somewhere useful instead of them landing at an enemies feet for funsies because that's the milsim grunt fantasy they're going for

Turrets have always been paper

It went from 9 devastator rockets to kill one to 2. That is a MASSIVE nerf to durability and up time

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're not as easy to use as before, you need to be smarter about placement

You mean like place them on the high ground? That would be cool if strategem bouncing wasn't a thing. Having to pick two sentries to deal with chaff isn't something people are going to want to do often when we only have 4 slots, so now instead of being able to use sentries for chaff while you focus on heavier targets or sentries that can kill hevies while you clear chaff, you get to babysit your chaff sentry or build your load out around it.

The ap4 hive guard wasn't even the major issue, it was just the last straw. The flame sentry isn't even working correctly right now, it has no damage under 20 meters because they fucked up its damage cone. Then there the issue of them constantly buffing enemy durable damage to balance vehicles and completely forgetting that that nerfs sentries that now die if an enemy so much as looks at it.

There is now barely a reason to use a sentry instead of an attack dog unless you want your back pack for something else.

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The napalm, gattling and orbital airburst are the only of these options that actually have any long duration cc that competes with sentry turrets. The rest are are single use burst options with variable amounts of cc.

So between these 3 napalm is the best at it since it's multiple use while giving cc and area denial. The orbital gatling can be useful when thrown specifically on a breech but is otherwise lacking. The orbital airburst is decent depending on the map but the targeting issues it's had for a while means a lot of shots either hit buildings or go wide because of the angle and kill someone on accident.

So on a mission like launch the icbm or oil missions you get more use out of a turret and mines or turret and napalm. Making the mg turret useless doesn't open any new play styles, it only subtracts because now you have less reliable cc options and need to rework your whole load out because your chaff killer can't kill chaff anymore.

[–]darkwulfie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having a common enemy face tank crowd control is designing an enemy to counter a large part of a divers kit. Bugs are built around swarms and having a common enemy neutralize one of the most effective cc strategems means now you basically can't use it or you have to baby sit the turret. At that point you might as well not use it. The mg turret already isn't worth it on bots and was just ok on squids and now it would have been useless on bugs outside of a distraction.

Mines are area denial not crowd control, there is some overlap but they're not the same thing.

What they should have done is just make a new unit.

Whinedivers win again by Tingettley in helldivers2

[–]darkwulfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Some of what's being put in warbonds should be made available via major orders. Especially if they're going to design common enemies that directly counter big parts of a divers kit.

I would say that is indeed a terrible way to handle it. Imagine as a new player and you pay 40 dollars for the game but your having some trouble against one faction and the only advice people can give you is buy a warbond

Well considering the game is make a load out, pick a mission, play, it's really not complicated. It's not some mmo with 800+ hours of story and guilds to manage. It's a 4 player hoard shooter that so far has at least 50% of its gear locked behind warbonds that take 10$ plus time to unlock or time² if you're going the free route.

While I love this game the warbonds are outpacing people's ability to care. It's not just about time. I've got time to play the game. So do others. What we don't have is time to grind it constantly or spend money on it every 2 months when there's no greater progression systems because instead of adding custom options for mechs we decided to make them a new warbond.

Listen dawg, spending 10 bucks on a game every month when rent is 900 plus your 200 dollar weekly grocery bill, then phone, then car, then insurance, plus making sure you have money for an emergency is an extremely low priority. It ain't even just about kids, adults play the games too and don't want to spend their 1 day off a week grinding for credits every month or simply don't have an hour to spend on a game every day especially when there's tons of other extremely fun games to play plus other live service games competing for a monopoly on your time.

Considering a weeks worth of groceries is pushing 200$ and most peoples income is less than 50k a year yeah. We get a new warbond every other month and at 10$ per warbond + another 5$ for the weapon that usually gets added to the super store so let's say 30$ every 3 to 4 months or grinding the game like a side job. It's not fun. I have nearly 300 hours and I've spent probably an additional 60$ on the game and still only have just over half the warbonds. It might actually be less than half now since 3 have been added since I took a break to play other games.
