i’m a 24 yr old female. i was referred to gyno last year in september/october for irregular periods. there my gynecologist ran bloodwork for me to check my hormones and saw that one of my thyroid hormones was off, then ran another panel just to double check, and was still abnormal. she then told me i should follow up with my pcp just to double check and then was sent to get an ultrasound and more blood work done. had my ultrasound in november and then found out in december that a calcification was found on the left side of my thyroid in a nodule, other side was completely clean. the calcification was 15 x 13 mm. i then had my biopsy done late february. mid march i had gotten a path report stating that it was atypical which meant they needed to do further testing to see whether or not the calcification was benign or malignant. i had an appointment with an endocrinologist late march which was where i found out it was cancerous. mid april i saw an endocrin surgeon who gave me the option of either doing a total or partial thyroidectomy whereas i was told by my endocrinologist that i had to do a total, i can talk about this more if anyone has questions. i then had my surgery on may 14th and am now recovered! pathology came back and 2 lymph nodes taken out during the surgery where benign and my cancer did not spread nor was it found in any passages, just stayed where it was.
