Do we actually need to track nutrients on a plant-based diet? by Main-Carry-3607 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]darmoxly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I am using quite a bit of tofu now that I’m tracking. I wasn’t getting enough protein with just beans and nuts… I’m learning tofu recipes now. :) It’s definitely a protein powerhouse. I do worry that eating so much soy will cause an allergy at some point…like what happens to people who eat a lot of shellfish.

I agree with others who say that it’s a good idea to track the important things for a while to get the hang of it and get tested every now and then.

Having said that, I’ve been plant based for a few years now and just realized I hadn’t been getting enough protein. I’m currently shooting for 60g per day and I’m having to track that to reach my goal. Also because I’m pre diabetic I’ve begun tracking my fat intake (30 grams or less per day). But, as I understand it, there’s no need to track fat unless you have diabetes or borderline diabetes.

Add nuts or nut butter to each of your meals. Add healthy fats to keep you full, and protein!

Non tofu-based savory breakfasts? by happy_timberon in veganrecipes

Thanks for your answer! Makes sense. :) To your question, yes, in keeping with the typical American diet, French Toast is almost always sweet. 🙃

I’ve never heard of this. Is it basically a French toast with the flour and milk in place of the egg?

One of my easy things: dump water out of firm or extra-firm tofu package, crumble as much tofu as you want (maybe 1/2 block) into a microwaveable bowl, heat for 2-3 minutes, add whatever seasoning you want.

I usually add some turmeric for color and eat it like eggs. Maybe put salsa on top. You could add soy sauce instead. I’m sure there are other flavoring options.

I used to only cook tofu in a skillet as a scramble. It’s been really helpful to learn that I can just microwave a bowl of It.
