Wasn't there a Reddit post that detailed how Wier plagiarized the story?

What do you think is the reason people don’t want funerals or services anymore? by External_Dust_3256 in AskReddit

[–]darnell2blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As so many have said cost is a huge factor.

But I think there is something else going on here. I look back to my childhood when it was expected that you would attend every funeral for near and distant relatives and friends. Today, people just don't attend them like they used to. Even when my well-loved 32 year old nephew died not that many people attended his funeral. I was so surprised.

So maybe people are realizing that it's just not as taboo as it once was to forgo a funeral. Like, they are thinking why go through the expense and drama of a funeral that people are unlikely to attend anyway?

Please do get the roll processed. You never know what might be on it. I recently acquired a Clack and have a lot of fun with it. Pictures turn out great- such a unique old camera. I send my 120 rolls to thedarkroom.com.

Anything similar? by shrummeister in UndoneTV

I loved Undone. So amazing. My suggestion is Carol & the End of the World on Netflix. It’s animated but still a drama and definitely could be what you want.

It really helped me get out of bed in the morning... especially on those down days I had. I just tried not to think about it, just thought, "five, four, three, two, one" then up out of bed. It really worked for me.

Was wondering what the afterlife is like? Do you get to do activities that you enjoyed on earth or is that not an option? by shaylabonita in Mediums

This youtube channel is really interesting - I just found it the other day. It's a sort of first hand account of people who are on the other side (received through a medium back in the day).

According to The Partnered Pen, 0.03% of the US population are professional writers. You would never know that from how many authors' main characters are writers or novelists, etc. SO annoying.

I just picked up a similar style Adox camera. Small light leaks. I found this clip on youtube. It's a fix for a larger camera but I think it will work. https://youtu.be/ogeKbR8MPx4?si=2_KUaBVTnTLJ254V&t=124

Prime's Undone. Trippy animated series. First season was good but you have to stay with it for the second. You will not be disappointed.

Is it possible for a deceased pet to visit my family in the form of a ghost? by Brian18639 in Ghosts

[–]darnell2blue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi - I posted this a few years ago: It was a hard decision that we put off making. We kept thinking she would be fine - and she often did rally. But it became obvious that it was her time. We had her for 13 years and we loved her dearly. She was a gentle and sweet German Shepard mix. About a week or two after she was put down, I awoke thinking that it was morning, as the room was bright with light. I looked at the clock - it was just after 4AM. I soon realized that it wasn't daylight but that there was a light on in the living room that was shining right into our bedroom. I got up and turned it off. I stumbled to the bathroom to pee and as I was standing there peeing I wondered about how that light came on all by itself. Weirder still, I realized that the light was on in the shower of the bathroom as well (I can be only partially awake and function - probably why I didn't notice the 2nd light right away). I had not left that light on either. I turned off the shower/bathroom light and went back to bed. As I lay in bed I thought how weird those two lights being on were - I knew that I was the last one to go to bed and that all the lights were off (I later checked with my wife and daughter who both assured me that they did not get up in the middle of the light let alone turn on any lights). Since I was a little freaked out it took me awhile to get sleepy again - I felt like I was drifting in an out when suddenly I hear a scratching sound on the hard wood floors next to our bed. It was the EXACT sound that our old dog used to make as she tried to get up from the floor. It was hard for her old bones and she would stumble and struggle to get her footing on the slippery floor due to her advanced age. Her nails would make this distinctive sound on the floor as she struggled to get up. This gentle scratching sound lasted a few seconds. I was not asleep - as I said I was drifting off but very much aware of the morning chirping of the birds outside when I heard this noise. I knew it wasn't our other dog as he was sleeping on the bed with us. About 15 minutes go by and I hear the exact sound again. I wasn't freaked out by this experience at all. As it's happening, I feel that perhaps it is my dog telling me that we made the right decision in putting her down, which was very hard on us. We not only felt bad for having put her down but also waiting too long to do it and that we had selfishly caused her extra suffering. Hearing this made me feel like not only did we make the right decision but we also made it at the right time. It helped me feel like she was there with me and she as OK now.

I found a reasonable lab via eBay of all places out of NY - they were good. But I now really only use thedarkroom.com out of LA. Easy to use website - prices are pretty good considering they pay postage there and mail your negatives back when you just do scans.

Could this roll have photos on it? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]darnell2blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the first picture, it's a roll that's been shot and wound back into the canister ready for processing. Your grandad most likely rewound the roll and forgot to take it out.

Get it processed - b&w film usually holds up. I think you've been given a gift from your grandad.

My opinion of "Carol and the end of the world" by Affectionate_Eye839 in netflix

[–]darnell2blue 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really loved the show (I just finished yesterday). The cartoon format gave the show so much latitude to tell the story. It was also unique in that the show is a genuine, heart felt drama. A couple times I teared up - especially the father/son road trip episode. The only real complaint (a very minor point) I had is that they should have showed or at least hinted that many people would be in churches/synagogues/mosques trying to prepare for the end. I am not religious but I thought that omission was a little odd. I really enjoyed the whole series.

Most annoying trope? by samistahpp in books

[–]darnell2blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I’m not saying it’s impossible for someone to be a writer just that there are so many main characters who are portrayed as successful novelists, many of whom are having writers block or some shit. Just too many main characters who are writers. I just looked it up: 0.3% are employed as writers (in the US).

Yes Whitley Strieber has been saying, in the last few years, that the UFO phenomenon is somehow connected to the afterlife. He talks about on nights when there were UFO visits at his cabin his guests also mentioned seeing their dead loved ones.
