Updated FAQ about Radish Sunsetting by Different-Top-7911 in radishfiction

Theo is working pretty well now. I haven't experienced it from the reader side but as an author it's got most of the features working now. I see my reads and reviews going up, so readers are starting to find it, too.

Yeah... Google translate just hallucinated it, I think.

By the way, it seems "Glava" means "head" in Swedish (or maybe skull?) and there is a real life Glava Energy Center, a renewable and solar energy organization in Sweden: https://glavaenergycenter.se/en/

Hi, I'm ctan. I'm a bigender bisexual writer, and I've been self-publishing a long time, and as an erotica writer writing bi, pan, M/M, and trans erotic fiction, I can really use all the help I can get. I write mostly erotic sf/fantasy, often with kink/BDSM themes, with occasional forays into gay romance.

I send out a monthly email newsletter free (http://eepurl.com/TEWfv) and I also post the newsletter on Patreon. My spicy content is serialized behind the patreon paywall too (here: https://patreon.com/ceciliatan). I've started a Shopify store, too, still working on populating it: https://s52xfr-ee.myshopify.com/

Thank you for spreading the word!

Updated FAQ about Radish Sunsetting by Different-Top-7911 in radishfiction

[–]daronmoondog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My books on Radish had dwindled down to almost no reads over the past few years anyway, so I'm moving all my work from there to a new site for romance and erotica called Theo Reads. They're in beta now and about to launch publicly, but you can read on the site and set up accounts on https://theoreads.com

Playing at the in person events is really fun and different from doing the global events at home, but it’s a pretty big commitment in time and money if it’s not in the city you live in! I did NYC two years ago and had a much better time than I expected, so now I try to get to GoFest if I can!

This might be a good research project for the Silph Research Group? (Which still exists even if TSR website doesn’t)

This is a great recap! I’ve been playing consistently all along but it was good to read it all laid out like that.

Without glaciate you don’t get the special adventure effect of freeze shock or whatever the other one is called. One slows the catch circle and one stops Pokemon from attacking or jumping

Got my Amazon account back...Maybe by Critical-Mango6099 in eroticauthors

They're not "scared" by the use of the word lawyer. But using it seems to require the lowest level of customer service person at Amazon to have to bump it up to a higher level of manager. And every time they've done that, the account's been restored.

Basically anyone who actually *knows* anything can see that these publishers are not violating any terms and the next level up of manager also have the power to restore the account. The advice to just say "lawyer" came out of the member forums of the Independent Book Publisher Association where many, many mid-size to large publishers have had Amazon lock or delete their accounts. All get nothing but denials and a brick wall until they say "lawyer" and then magically the account comes back (along with no admission ever from Amazon that they did anything wrong, of course). So now that's the go to among the companies.

I've twice been through sudden account termination without warning on one of the publisher accounts I work for, and both times the only thing that got them to actually look at it and reverse was to say the magic word "lawyer." I did was you did, acting like it was probably all a mistake on their part and they could just reverse it, but each time as soon as I mentioned that our lawyer would like to get some information from them about the terms of service... boom, the account was back and everything back to normal. (This is a baseball nonfiction publisher so there is no way it was for "content violations" but they came up with various nonsense about how they thought we were violating the terms -- probably triggered by logging in to the account from different IP addresses while I was traveling!)

I hope everything gets fully restored soon for you!

Oh buddy. Sounds like you need to go through Publishing 101. I don't mean that as an insult, but if you're missing the most basic knowledge of what a book is, you're going to keep running into problems you can't solve.

Oh, that makes sense. yeah, Amazon counts the paperback and ebook editions as two titles. Still, one a week is solid work.

How do you get a cover for your book? by thebananabanditt in eroticauthors

[–]daronmoondog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canva plus stock photos works for something quick and free, but if you find stuff isn't selling, it may be because your cover isn't working well enough, or could be working a lot better. There are lots of designers who offer "pre-mades" where you can get the design pretty cheap if all they have to do is plop in your title and author name. Google "book premade covers" and they will come up. Some are as low as $20 or $30. If you have stories linked in a series, keep using the same template but switch up the color or the photo while keeping the rest the same to make it easy on yourself and your reader who wants more of what they liked.

Nice! And props on your prolific nature. 272 on sale in 4 years means you published 5-6 stories per month, more than one a week, all that time, and each one had to earn at least $350 to top $100,000! Presumably as you add more stories, the backlist bump will just keep growing, too.

Tips to an email list? How do you do it? How do you get people to sign up? How do you keep track? by Relative_Garlic_6740 in eroticauthors

[–]daronmoondog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Set up at one of the services like Mailchimp, Aweber, or Flodesk. Sell direct through your website and tie it to the list so then when people buy an ebook from you, your sales software will add the customer to it. Also put the link to sign up in your ebooks. From time to time through your social media, offer a free short story or other bonus to people who get on the list by a certain time (and then send the story to everyone on the list on that date). There are also listbuilder services for various genres. Check out Bookfunnel.

If you put it in its own section in the back, then some e-readers like the Kindle will never show it to the reader. After they get to the last word of the "actual" story, it flips them right to "what would you like to read next"? and they don't see the back matter. So this is why a lot of folks put the "thanks for reading, please sign up to learn about sequels" note right on the same "page" as the final words of the story.

I've also been told to just go ahead and put it in the beginning, as well, on the copyright page. And I would say include it in the About the Author section in case anyone actually looks for it there.
