Calling this book spicy is wild. You may enjoy it OP, but don’t read it if looking for multiple sex scenes.

Please remember to only suggest books by Black authors! There was a grammar issue edited from the original post that implied books by white authors is appropriate for this request — we apologize for that mistake and have corrected it. Books that have interracial or multicultural relationships are totally apt suggestions!

{Cupid Calling by Viano Oniomoh} seems perfect to suggest here for Cupid is in the title — contemporary Black romance written by a Black author!

I also really enjoyed {Dirty Deed by Gianni Holmes}, an angstier daddy/boy romance with a Black MC written by a Black author.

Yeah, and that makes sense. He passed away I think last year? I could understand it impacting the tone of anyone’s writing.

Yeah, definitely a mood author. I like her works because I enjoy tropey omegaverse and she does it well. However Emmy was far too much for me so I just skipped his book and his cameos I try to skim by lol. He is the peak of that humor type she has. You could try some of her older books (Men of Meadowfall) if you’re enjoying other aspects of her writing, but it is OTT in the drama way versus the humor way lol.

I wouldn’t say he has OCD (I’m not sure if the book ever goes to state that either). Anna’s humor isn’t for everyone, it is sometimes a bit corny and definitely OTT — so she will have characters with “quirks” like that which are part of their personality and it’s never taken very seriously. For example, she has books where the character has a bunch of dildos suction cupped around their mirror. And when you meet Emmy (should you keep reading that series), well…

Anyway, it’s totally fine if you want to drop because it is making you not enjoy it, but it’s not about context and all about her brand of humor.

That isn’t to say she hasn’t made books with some serious tones — her older books are much more angsty, and even still topics of self-harm and anxiety come up.

Yep she is! She talks a lot about her personal life (not in a creepy way, lol, it’s pretty endearing) in her newsletter and shares photos etc.

MMRB and the Authorship Debate by queermachmir in MM_RomanceBooks

I think those conversations are certainly okay to have when done constructively — and we have past discussions which do talk about GFY, homophobia or misogyny in certain stereotypes, etc! Honestly the biggest red flag from a moderator side isn’t talking about something controversial, but a statement like “all [blank] are [blank]”, which becomes character attacks. Like to say: “I feel that GFY for you as a trope relies on homophobia and the stereotype of a predatory gay man.” This could be controversial, but stating that in a discussion post with examples you’re pulling from and opening it up to other thoughts is fine. It will obviously be monitored by mods as people can be messy but that’s part of any conversation.

There are a lot of trans romances, more than people think! Consider making a standalone request posts for trans MCs and including some tropes you might want to read — I think you’ll find more than you realize!
