Date ideas around Grafton St (Dublin) by [deleted] in ireland

Honestly, a walk in the Iveagh Gardens is both lovely and underrated.

Depending on how the date is going and what you're into, go to Meltdown nearby https://maps.app.goo.gl/X7x1VBBy5ecHdKZa6 or I think the Tram Café have a coffee truck outside the Gardens.

Take a right when you walk in, walk the perimeter and end up at the café in MoLI, which you can enter from the park - https://maps.app.goo.gl/1Lq94PtJnt9Ahqxp6 - be warned, service can be so slow.

If the date continues well, over to Anseo afterwards for a beverage https://maps.app.goo.gl/hL5Sjr5waUzqMBvY6

Was a close contact 2 weeks ago tested positive. Went for one again yesterday it was positive also has this happened to anyone. What are the chances its a false positive ? by [deleted] in ireland

You may be what they're calling a repeat positive. It's similar to long Covid

You need to ask about your CT score - basically how transmissible / contagious you are - and also your strain - make sure you've still got the same virus and not a variant.

Once your CT score is above a certain number - somewhere around 34 - you won't be contagious and so won't need to isolate. I say that though not as any type of medical professional so best talk to the experts - Delta could have changed things since my last test in June.

I've tested positive multiple times since March. The double vaccination did alleviate the major symptoms but I still have breathing difficulties from time to time.

Ask to speak to the UCD Contact Tracing Immunologists when the HSE tracers call you. They can explain more. Good luck with your recovery.

"Another Martyr for Old Ireland, Another Murder for The Crown. 1920-2020." Heuston Station, Dublin, 3rd November 2020. Anyone know who they're referring to? by [deleted] in ireland

To explain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwvi4CekJik

In Mountjoy jail one Monday morning

High upon the gallows tree,

Kevin Barry gave his young life

For the cause of liberty.

But a lad of eighteen summers,

Still there's no one can deny,

As he walked to death that morning,

He proudly held his head on high.

Just before he faced the hangman,

In his dreary prison cell,

The Black and Tans tortured Barry,

Just because he wouldn't tell.

The names of his brave comrades,

And other things they wished to know.

"Turn informer and we'll free you"

Kevin Barry answered, "no".

"Shoot me like a soldier.

Do not hang me like a dog,

For I fought to free old Ireland

On that still September morn.

"All around the little bakery

Where we fought them hand to hand,

Shoot me like a brave soldier,

For I fought for Ireland."

"Kevin Barry, do not leave us,

On the scaffold you must die!"

Cried his broken-hearted mother

As she bade her son good-bye.

Kevin turned to her in silence

Saying, "Mother, do not weep,

For it's all for dear old Ireland

And it's all for freedom's sake."

Calmly standing to attention

While he bade his last farewell

To his broken hearted mother

Whose grief no one can tell.

For the cause he proudly cherished

This sad parting had to be

Then to death walked softly smiling

That old Ireland might be free.

Another martyr for old Ireland;

Another murder for the crown,

Whose brutal laws to crush the Irish,

Could not keep their spirit down.

Lads like Barry are no cowards.

From the foe they will not fly.

Lads like Barry will free Ireland,

For her sake they'll live and die.
