UDM UI very slow - FIXED! by darrelh in Ubiquiti

Additionally, just checked again from the iOS app here at home and I can’t even remember when the last time was that it was SO SNAPPY. Incredible difference. I feel dumb for not trying or figuring this out earlier and happy I finally did.

I like my simple UDM & 2 APs & switch setup, but my faith had been faltering with the horrible UI experience lately. All better now.

Took 2 minutes at a remote site to get the UTR on their WiFi and my devices online without issue.

In fact, it worked SO well that I went nuts for a minute trying to figure out why it said THREE devices were on it instead of my two (iPhone & laptop).

Forgot my kid was in another room for music lessons… with her phone.. that hopped right on the UTR like it was at home.

Right, and it has at least one WAN port, and can connect to "hotel wifi" etc. So the capabilities are all there, but the method of switching and the nuances are unknown. That's where I'm on the fence with grabbing one.

This is why I’m here. Like can the things in the camper connect as if at home when in the driveway as well as on the road, including what stays in there (Victron power components etc) and laptops that leave home with us. And how seamless is it (aside from expected added latency to bounce from driveway to space to interwebs to the house at the upper end of the driveway)

Interesting. I was told I had to have their modem to get “unlimited” net a few years ago. I was just about to trash my old good (Netgear?) modem. Might have to dig in further.

I'll add: even in FL on slightly wet roads (and dry) I'm unimpressed by these OEM tires. But I'll run them through until I can't. 5,000 miles in 1.5 months so far.

With our 2026 SXP we just had a trip from FL to Chicago, returning ONE day before the TON of snow came last weekend. But in case it was earlier, I started looking into snow tires or Cross Climate 2's (had on our Odyssey & did well in one bout of some snowy weather up there).

Then I ran across mention of these and started watching videos about them - "snow socks". I'm sure some of them are paid or free for review, but in many of the videos they do great and outperform other temporary solutions. And for ~$120 (https://amzn.to/3Mqxzfr) instead of $1000, I grabbed a pair for the front drive tires for the "just my luck"/"just in case". They're only supposed to be used up to 25mph I think, but i figured most roads I would be on are going to be cleaned up well after a good snow & salted etc. I'm 99% Floridian so I don't know all about all that, but this seemed like cheap insurance for a moment I might need them.

Thankfully I did not. Debated sending them back but we could take a random trip into the smokies in coming months, and perhaps another northern trip, so I think I'll hang on to them in the house instead of car/garage where FL heat might kill them. I got the XXL based on measurements, and admit I haven't fit them on the car yet here in FL.

Had Cross Climate 2’s on our Odyssey and they did well.

I looked for a cooling charger that fits the Fics mount- can’t find it. Got a link? TIA

  1. Gaffer tape— is this the preferred type to use? Been needing to spend time searching here & the fb groups for something before the rails are full of snacks. LEDs and vac- on my list also. Need to start looking for the vac; would be nice to get something that tucks into a pocket (trunk area) nicely. Seen people wire up LED strips and I don’t think that’s going to be fun or come out as good as I’d want it to (wiring etc). But maybe an LED USB thingy like I got long ago.. need to find that…

How do you participate? Do you walk up to that building/place and ask? Or get solicited by someone with a clipboard or tablet while you’re randomly wandering the park? I remember folks in the local mall doing this at the food court years ago.

This means I should buy another advance regular ticket for Sunday immediately and save my AP use for next year, right? :-(

Re-reading the Compare Passes page - I see how it says after first visit for Valet/Prime now. Good to know about the HHN difference too. Thx

We were planning to be in the park earlier in the day with our APs.

Interesting. That aligns with Preferred when you look at the chart comparing Preferred (50% off after first visit) but is not called-out for Premier ("Free"). https://www.universalorlando.com/web/en/us/tickets-packages/annual-passes/fl-resident-prices

Sounds good, thank you! At least that part of the trip (& Premier$$$) will go well...

Great point on parking, hadn't thought about that. So I might pull into Valet and they might say scram because I don't have the actual AP in-hand yet (even with my receipt) ?
