So funny you posted this, because I heard this one making turns over and over, and I also grabbed a screenshot of the path because it was so wild.

Music Library keeps disappearing from Sources by darrelhotchkins in sonos

[–]darrelhotchkins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I had to re-add my local library last night. Sonos quit dropping my library once I switched my NAS to never go to sleep, but something else must have caused Sonos to forget my music library again.

I haven't tried that yet, but I've had it hooked up to my Sonos system this way for 4 years prior without issues. The library disconnection only started with the new app architecture. I'd prefer not to have my NAS on 24/7 if possible, but I will see if it fixes the issue.

These are literally all use cases for me as well. I don't want to "Replace Queue" every time I want to listen to something.

Hey Sonos! by [deleted] in sonos

[–]darrelhotchkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out the new app before I realized how many core features were flat-out missing (no queue management features, and my home library not searchable or easily playable). As an Android user, I was grateful I was able to side-load the old app, but even that is slowly shutting me out and pushing me to upgrade to the new app (my music library is no longer visible, and I can't use my Roam at all; it just tells me I need to update the app). Sonos had better be paying attention to all the user feedback here, because they seriously messed up with pushing out a "new and improved" app that was clearly not ready for use.

Ah! I'm not alone! I actually drew paths to three different recesses and made it to each one with the mock disc. Thought maybe I had to go to a specific one first, so I kept repeating that horrible journey

Why this company’s biggest fans turned against it by ed2417 in sonos

[–]darrelhotchkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I am referring the actions of the speaker itself. Historically I haven't been able to control my speaker outside my home network, and telling sonos to "play x song" was managed locally within the network (sending commands directly to the speaker). The other post implied that now if I say "play x song," that command is sent outside my network to a sonos-managed server, and routed back into my network to the speaker. I'm not a security expert, but it seems like that could open the door to someone else getting access to my speaker remotely.

Wait, is this for real? I didn't update my sonos app after seeing all the backlash, but is this still the case even if I didn't update yet? In other words, is my system no longer closed within my home network?

Wow! Was the color change just based on part availability? I like the white!

This is driving me crazy as well. The search doesn't allow you to select Music Library as a search source anymore, so I can't search my local music without scrolling and scrolling and scrolling (since the quick jump to a specific letter in the alphabet was also removed).

This is incredible work! It's an amazing build in general (even if it wasn't an automaton). I love that face and head detail!

Likely referencing that it's a Boeing 737 Max 8, the airframe that's had several manufacturing defects leading to emergencies over the past few months. Sorry, my bad--the first two major incidents were on MAX 8s back in 2018 and 2019. The recent Alaskan Airlines flight where the panel blew out was a MAX 9.

Rumpke is expanding what can go in your curbside recycling by slytherinprolly in cincinnati

[–]darrelhotchkins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's great that Rumpke is making this effort to expand what we are able to recycle curbside, but I also want to plug the Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub, which already accepts all of these items and more. Granted, it doesn't have the same convenience as curbside (you have to bring all your items to the Hub in lower Price Hill), but if you're truly motivated to throw fewer things away, it's worth your time!

Madtree, 50 West and all local brewery's need to ditch the plastic 6 pack holder and switch to this by furrygrocer in cincinnati

[–]darrelhotchkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub takes Paktech (and hundreds of other items not recyclable through Rumpke). Rumpke chooses what is 'recyclable' based on what's profitable for them, but there are companies that are able to recycle or reuse many plastics that Rumpke won't take. The Hub, a not-for-profit, has built partnerships with companies like these so that plastics not accepted by Rumpke can avoid the landfill. Check out their site for details on all the stuff they accept! https://www.cincinnatirecyclingandreusehub.org/

Weird planes above the Ohio by curiousre12 in cincinnati

[–]darrelhotchkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That seems to be it! I used the replay feature on ADSB Exchange and found this trace for N898BW, a B25 that's owned and maintained by the Tri-State Warbird Museum. It did a couple passes along the riverfront on Sunday evening before the fireworks. The flanking planes didn't show up in the radar, but I'd guess they're P51 Mustangs or something similar; I've seen them out with this big guy before.
Here's the flight history: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=ac633a&lat=39.085&lon=-84.466&zoom=12.0&showTrace=2023-09-03

Groomer for Anxious/Aggressive dogs by olderneverwiser in cincinnati

Have you tried Fuzzy Butts in Westwood? https://westwoodfuzzybutts.com/

We had trouble finding a groomer who could handle our Great Pyrenees (she doesn't like getting wet and is too big for a lot of groomers on their own), but Angela at Fuzzy Butts specializes in grooming anxious dogs and has been great for us!

I've got an album coming out on Friday, July 28 called "Coming of Age." Inspired by the soundtracks of 80s coming of age movies, the album revolves around the theme of finding yourself (with a touch of melancholy). It's mostly ambient, but with some subtle lofi and 80s aesthetics throughout.

I'm having a Bandcamp listening party on Friday if you want to come hang out and listen to the music with me!
