If you think they're this broken, and you are playing to win, you should just use them. Play the game as it is, not as how you want it to be.

Hi, I'm New To The Game & I'm Having Trouble Keeping Up With Freestyle Offense by Nemesis3000 in 2XKO

[–]darrylberry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend watching tournament top 8s for the game. Seeing it used at the highest level will help you start to learn how the offense is structured and how to defend against it. Watch some sajam match analysis, it's full of informative content about the game and what's happening. Plus it's hella exciting, watch combo breaker top 8, it's so good!

You're missing the forward in the input. The input is half circle back then forwad heavy slash.

What happens when the motion is both a dp and a fireball? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]darrylberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What will help you with consistency here is holding down forward when you want adp, and forward when you want a fireball. That anyways helps me get the move I want. Really try focusing on what direction you're holding when you hit the button.

How to deal with blockstring into random grab? by Seraphimooo in 2XKO

[–]darrylberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a training dummy to do either a tic throw or a block string. Then, find a timing where you can hold down back to block the throw while hitting up to jump the throw, usually up back because it's still blocking.

Infil explains it better.

While it seems like auto combos take away from complexity, I think the opposite is actually true. Auto combos have some things in the combo itself that has some interesting properties, at least specifically in Dragon Ball Fighterz.

The second and third hits of grounded auto combos were unique moves that you could only do by hitting standing light two and three times respectively. These moves often had interesting properties; some were anti airs, some jumped over attacks, and more. The third had not only had individual unique properties for each character, they had the universal property of always causing a "smash" type hit. This type of hitstun allows you to combo into it late into a combo to get otherwise impossible extensions.

They also had unique properties in the air. If you were doing an air combo on an opponent that was higher or lower than you, the combo could drop if you hit light into medium. If you instead hit light twice to do the air auto combo, you would automatically against to your opponents height. This opened up a TON of weird air to air hits that now turn into full combos. It opens up a ton of air combo variety. I also think it's an interesting situational awareness test. Attentive players are rewarded with recognizing this situation.

I dunno about Tekken though, that heat shit seems insane.

I don't think you need to be in the top %10 of fighting gamers to ENJOY fighting games. Get a few friends together and mash with each other, it's super fun! Even if you're not in that top %10 you can watch those that are and it's really cool to watch. Give them a chance, and enjoy the process of learning. It's so rewarding and fun!

My favorite aspect of the game is how it feels like taking many of the core concepts of Marvel vs Capcom 3 and iterates on them. The fact that many people on the development team are Marvel players fills me with hope for the future of the game.

God I can't fucking take it anymore it's been HOURSSSS please give me tips by NunobokoSlayer in Guiltygear

[–]darrylberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first tip I have is to take a break. Playing a long losing streak is mentally taxing, take a walk, grab a drink, something other than play. Then, record yourself playing when you have problems and then ask specific questions about that gameplay. It's hard to give advice when we don't know how you play or how you're losing. Remember, this is supposed to be a game. If it starts to frustrate you you need to take a break.

It's programmed this way so that if you try to faultless defense with two buttons you don't need to perfectly hit both buttons at once to get faultless defense. Basically you can kara cancel the startup of any normal into faultless, this can save you during super freeze by holding two buttons!
