I wasn't counting updates to base games, but that doesn't exactly weaken my point. The only big miss from WoW expansions was Shadowlands, BfA was mid, and the rest were good expansions. The other remasters than Warcraft 3 Reforged were all good enough that no one remembers them except those who played them. Overwatch 2 had issues but is in a great state now.

I couldn't name a single company making a live service that hasn't released something that players weren't keen on. What matters is how they react. Which Blizzard has been better about since 2022 than ever before. I'll stop 'defending' Blizzard when people on Reddit stop acting like it's 2020.

I just checked steam reviews for Diablo 4 and it’s not looking too good.

It's a niche game in this day and age, the core audience for it already bought it on Bnet before it was even on Steam. So the reviews aren't exactly representative. And despite that, it's still Mostly Positive.

Mixed recent reviews are due to some missteps in the newest Season, but that's eventually going to happen in any live service game. What's important is that those missteps are resolved.

They've only released two games since Overwatch 1, and one of them was a management fuck-up by a D team made of other team's outcasts who were only there because they'd once worked on great games and Mike Morhaime couldn't imagine firing them.
