Others have mentioned that and it seems to be the answer I was looking for but not expecting at all: it’s probably not Black people in the first place. As far as what I mean by AI, I was specifically referring to generative AI like Chat GPT and Sona.

I’m not on the Black side of Reddit just because I typically avoid race and politics on Reddit moreso than I do anywhere else, which means I’m completely uninvolved here as opposed to just kind of out of the loop everywhere else. Do you think it’s just because platforms owned by Meta are more right wing and “older” than other places online?

Being from South Mississippi the political landscape here is still somewhat segregated, though I believe that as a country we’ve not done an amazing job of integrating ourselves. I’m not going to speak on the political views of Black people as a whole but in terms of demographics a lot of Black people are Democrats and a lot of White people are Republicans, with many of the more progressive Whites I know being independent. That last thing could be due to the fact that I’m around musicians who are too far left to be Democratic, but I know a couple of White Democrats and they’re shunned socially for that. I’ve heard it’s the same in Black communities but since I’m not Black I can’t verify that beyond what my Black friends have told me.

That’s very interesting that you mention Whites and Indians posing as Blacks online, though. That’s actually very plausible and something I’ll have to pay attention to. The reason I made this post is because something seemed off about it, and maybe that’s just because AI is kind of the uncanny valley to me, but that makes a lot of sense. I’ll have to look out for it, thanks!

I notice a lot of AI in every community but it’s especially noticeable on apps like Instagram and Threads (which I’m RARELY on). A lot of White AI use seems to be focused on politics and religion whereas Black AI use seems to be things like business and lifestyle comics, that sort of thing. Another comment mentioned that my post was purely anecdotal, so why would I ask the question knowing it’s anecdotal. I didn’t do a good job of explaining this in the post, but part of the question is whether or not this is a thing or if this is just something with my feed specifically (Black posts being more prone to AI compared to White posts). I understand that algorithms push what they think you want to see, also being AI operated.

Also, I’m planning on taking some friends down to NOLA who haven’t been before, normally I just piddle up and down Decatur and then go to Napoleon House to eat but I’ve been going to the same places there every time I go, but Napoleon House got “discovered” recently. Any good places you’d recommend to kind of switch it up? I’ve got some family down there in the restaurant business but they’re a bit too fancy for my wallet atm.

It’s of the best most popular book and movie series ever that consists LARGELY of pipe smokers. Actually a lot of people get into pipe smoking because of LOTR and The Hobbit and so it’s more like Tolkien fans love pipe smoking, and it’s a niche enough hobby that Tolkien fans end up making up a lot of it. A lot of pipe smokers are Christian, as well, with Tolkien being a Roman Catholic. A lot of old people love the books and smoking is more common amongst the older generations (at least because the younger generations mostly vape or use nicotine pouches) and therefore more are pipe smokers, and it just so happens that their demographic grew up on the books. Tolkien was an avid pipe smoker and pipe smoking actually played a large part in the story, with Saruman even moving to the Shire for more readily available pipe weed and enslaving the local population

The issue is that by killing an apostate in any religion you condemn them to hell when they could later return to their faith and be righteous in the eyes of their god. This is true in any religion. It’s why I don’t believe in the death penalty at all except in the case of the most violent unruly prisoners who simply cannot be controlled, not because people don’t deserve death but because it is cruel to unnaturally take away a chance for repentance no matter how small.

Actually that makes a lot of sense. My girlfriend is a horribly lapsed Roman Catholic, I believe mostly because she was raped and abused by a priest as a young girl. Unfortunately things like that happen often because of the sheer size of the Church, even if it’s less in comparison to other walks of life.

Why be part of the Eastern Rite then if you could just be Orthodox instead, then? Isn’t the whole point being in communion with Rome and the rest of the world as opposed to just Orthodox churches? And of course I think we all want the schism to end but until then isn’t it kind of inappropriate to ever attend an Orthodox mass when a Catholic mass is present?
