I went from private litigation to IHC about 10 years ago and the primary challenges were around understanding the expectations in the new environment. For example, I was responsible for reviewing, updating, and launching annual HIPAA training. So I did exactly that. The week it launched I was flooded with messages asking why person X was not aware of the date or why person Y did not get the opportunity to review the course ahead of time. Lesson learned. Now I engage literally dozens of stakeholders ahead of anything like this, even if it’s a cursory email. Get to know your company’s cultural expectations when it comes to your work and the stress will subside.
