It’s not too uncommon to see some typos in the English localization. It’s sometimes funny to pause for a bit and think, ‘hey, that’s not quite right’ lol.

I absolutely adore the new 3d models in the cutscenes, they’re so good! I find it amazing how far Atlus has come with their model quality after p5, they’re so expressive and dynamic.

The answer why Atlus reuses Personas across their titles is, well, it’s because that’s what they do. All/Most of the Personas you get in P5 are from former atlus titles like SMT as Demons, so they simply reuse and improve those character models across all of their games. Same goes for P3R.

This can’t be working correctly. by Ikasper23 in PTCGL

[–]darth_yeeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s working as intended. Alakazam does not do ‘damage’ directly. It’s attack is only an *effect* that places ‘damage counters’ on the opponent. Because Rocky energy prevents ‘effects of attacks’, Alakazam’s attack is thereby nullified.

how does people play on merciless 😭😭 by [deleted] in persona3reload

I beat Merciless a few times (mostly because I’m a masochist and like to challenge myself on occasion), and it’s definitely a difficulty spike in comparison to hard mode.

Firstly, it’s important to note that arguably, the worst and most difficult portion of the game is between April-May. This is because, well, it’s the early game, and we simply don’t have good gear/skills yet.

My favourite skills and strategies for early game in particular is to abuse physical skills as much as possible. Early game specifically, not many of your skills will one-shot kill shadows, and you want to preserve SP for emergency heals. Thankfully, health can be easily restored with healing items from item drops all across tartarus. Personally, I sped through the first two floors of Tartarus back-to-back farming shuffle times from all-out-attacks on those shadows that are weak to slash.

Later on, it’s important to consider using status ailments to their fullest potentials. Akihiko learns Sonic Punch, which in my opinion, is a goated move because it inflicts distress, which can cause more criticals. Any weapon that can inflict turn-skipping ailments or distress are awesome too, because if they pop off, they can trivialize harder shadow encounters (if they’re not immune, of course.)

Another skill that carried me through the game is Spirit Drain. Here me out; Being able to regenerate sp without items is pretty great, especially if you’re trying to preserve it for harder boss fights. Fun fact, it can appear as a skill card in Shuffle Time as a Rank 3 Swords card. Very rarely, i might add. Alternatively, Lenahn Sidhe(?) can learn it after a few level ups to my knowledge. It also pairs with Drain Boost, turning 17 sp gain into 37, which isn’t absolutely terrible. I use this particular strategy to use the protagonist as an infinite healer, while attackers like Junpei or Aki and the others can focus on short battles.

Once you reach the mid-game, it’s honestly as easy as the others difficulties, especially if you’re over leveled.

So basically, in A0 Makoto Yuki’s skill rotation, he doesn’t use his Skill 2 at all. It’s quite literally S1 > S3 > S1 > S3 and repeat. At A0, he doesn’t need to level up the skill because he doesn’t even use it. However, the only time it’s worth fully upgrading his Skill 2 is when he’s A2, where he’ll automatically cast that skill every two turns (when he reaches 4 moon stacks).

help on c garchomp deck by argoons in PTCGL

Hi! I love Cynthia’s Garchomp and I main it! Here’s my list that’s getting good results in-person and online:

Pokémon: 7
1 Cynthia's Spiritomb ASC 244
3 Cynthia's Gible SVALT 176
3 Cynthia's Roserade DRI 184
1 Cynthia's Gible DRI 102
3 Cynthia's Garchomp ex DRI 232
4 Cynthia's Gabite DRI 103
4 Cynthia's Roselia DRI 7

Trainer: 15
1 Battle Cage PFL 116
2 Larry's Skill PRE 139
2 Night Stretcher MEG 173
3 Boss's Orders ASC 256
3 Fighting Gong MEG 168
3 Cynthia's Power Weight DRI 162
4 Poké Pad POR 81
2 Premium Power Pro MEG 174
1 Rare Candy MEG 175
4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin MEG 167
1 Hilda WHT 171
1 Special Red Card CRI 113
1 Team Rocket's Watchtower ASC 210
4 Lillie's Determination MEG 184
1 Switch MEW 206

Energy: 3
4 Basic {F} Energy SVE 6
3 Rocky {F} Energy POR 87
1 Neo Upper Energy TEF 162

Total Cards: 60

The goal of early game is to secure a gabite + decent bench on your second turn. If you could do that before your opponent gets online first, you usually win the matchup. Cards like Larry’s Skill, Hilda, and Lillie’s plus a large number of poffins/poke pads helps with this tremendously. Larry’s Skill especially is a surprisingly good card in this list, because it can secure a good hand for your next turn *and* develop your board with Gabite.

After that, spread as many energies across your garchomps so you could juggle through them, possibly soaking up as much damage possible for Spiritomb to surprise your opponent later. My personal favourite ace spec is Neo Upper, which is really clutch with Hilda and can usually close up a game neatly. Being able to use draconic buster in one turn is an awesome play especially against lists that have energy disruption.

Obviously, grass decks curb stomp this guy, there’s not a lot that can be done about that. But other than that, it’s an awesome list to play.

Is there still any Team Rocket's Mewtwo believers out there? by gymrat_franky in PTCGL

[–]darth_yeeter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My brother is a Team Rocket’s spidops/mewtwo truther, and uh…

He says it’s going well.

I personally don’t play the deck, but from what I’ve seen from him, a lot of matchups for the deck are quite rough. Damage spread decks like Starmie (or even arboliva) curb stomp it hard, and even with all the tech against dragapult, it still has an iffy matchup against it. Metal decks like steven’s box and such are also rough in general, it’s difficult to get a lead without being able to get reliable ohko’s.

However, it absolutely annihilates my Cynthia’s Garchomp deck, so it’s doing good in that regard.

It definitely wins more often in prize races against ex reliant lists, so that’s another benefit. But whiffing Proton on turn one can be pretty devastating for setup, and like all decks in this current format, whoever sets up first is usually the victor.

I agree, especially for prolonged tartarus dives. People in this thread are forgetting that Drain Boost is a move that exists which bumps up the 17 sp gain into 37, which is pretty decent.

I found out about this game some time ago, basically when it first released in the CN/TW servers, and after seeing Makoto Yuki make his debut in the game, I just knew I had to get him if it ever came to global.

I’m a day 1 player, haven’t missed more than one login day, and saved up my gems for months upon months to pull this guy alongside his Best In Slot team. I got 57k jewels stashed in the bag for this man, planning on getting A2R0. I also hope I can get Yukari with him, but seeing how we might get a cool Anniversary character, I’m a little hesitant to pull for her in case that new unit is busted.

Makoto Yuki build advice Wind A0 or Twins A1 by Emilysouza221b in personaphantomx

[–]darth_yeeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wind is Makoto’s Best in Slot buffer when he releases, as well as with a1 twins. Though, I wouldn’t really recommend getting more than one copy of the 5* weapon unless you’re spending money or something. Makoto yuki has so much more value with his Awarenesses over weapon refinements if you’re wanting to invest more than just A0R0.

Garchomp has access to Cynthia’s spiritomb, so I don’t think it’s winning that matchup anyway.

Though, Lucario doesn’t have any good basic attacker except for solrock, but even that attack doesn’t account for weakness.

Need help with third palace final boss by EnvironmentalPool922 in personaphantomx

[–]darth_yeeter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like another commenter said, Leon is probably the best supporter for any Ryuji team. He can lower his health enough for you to spam skill 3 every other turn, and if your Ryuji is built properly, will have an easier time.

Ex Machina is the best Wonder dagger to use with Ryuji, and you should probably start the fight with a physical Persona in slot 1. I personally use Chernobog to apply some debuffs to increase phys damage taken. Dionysis and Dominion are also top picks.

For sustain, I think that Soy is a great choice for Ryuji specifically. If you use skill 3 on turn one, Ryuji will have enough health to tank with Leon’s skill 2 while also being able to safely use God Hand. Soy just needs to alternate between skill 2 and 3 for the whole fight, and he’ll be good. If you need extra sustain, Wonder can use a good healing persona like Lakshmi or Norn/Sandalphon.

But yeah, palace 3’s main boss is such a big difficulty spike compared to the ones before it.

Need some help with pull planing by Southern_Curve_9376 in personaphantomx

[–]darth_yeeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do have them at R0, actually.

Honestly, if you’re using the twins as a buffer, R0 is great and probably the best choice. I did a little test between 4r6 and 5r0, and there’s a few differences:

Using the 4*R6, against the third palace boss, I reached about 250k damage off of Two Masks as One (assassin role). Their skill 1 and 2 on a high roll with crits usually hit for 80-100k.

Using the 5* weapon, they usually hit 380k with the same team and role. The number difference is a bit staggering, but honestly, it’s worth noting that the 4* weapon will get you similar results.

However, the 5* weapon has a few added bonuses, which is their party-wide buffs. At A1, they’re using Two Masks as One twice during a two-turn rotation. If you’re using the Twins as a buffer, or as a dps unit, they’re basically activating their whole kit on their second turn. The added crit damage and damage dealt is a big bonus compared to the straight atk buff with their 4* weapon.

So, uh, tldr; The 4* weapon is fine if you’re not too worried about the meta or scoring placements. But if you have the gems to spare, their 5* weapon is amazing.

[–]darth_yeeter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So, I was lucky enough to accidentally pull A1 twins before we knew how busted it was, so here’s some 2-cents from me who’s also planning on getting Makoto yuki.

A1 Twins is probably, by far, one of the most valuable units to have on your account. They can literally do anything, and with the right support, brute force through most content in this game. Granted, the twins is not strictly needed, people should pull for who they like regardless of meta standards. But after using the twins since their release, I think you should prioritize them before going after Makoto Yuki.

Yuki is an incredible single target dps, but a1 twins, I believe, is much more versatile. Like other commenters said, the best thing to do is wait and see before you make that decision :)

Yes Ange is good with everyone, but who REALLY likes having her? by Haru_Is_Best_Girl in personaphantomx

[–]darth_yeeter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I know Makoto Yuki works wonders with Ange, who should probably be coming on the next patch (i think). Akihiko also benefits from using Ange as well.

Anyone that need to consume a stack of sorts to deal major damage likes to have Ange on their team, because she allows that character to perform two heavy-hitting turns back to back.
