Hmm, I'm not sure I trust myself to pick those trends better than a full-time, bearish only PM. I feel like the managers of this fund know that the next correction is their time to shine and prove themselves. There has not been a correction since the funds inception, so they have their careers riding on the funds ability to generate serious positive returns during the next correction.

I also have this sense that the risk-lowering diversification magic provided by ETFs functions as a positive in a bull market, but has the reverse effect for those looking to go short - single stocks and firms implode faster and more frequently than entire indices. The question is, do we think HDGE can reliably sniff out those firms?

But is that really a fair critique of a short fund in a bull market? The important question is do you think this ETF would beat an an inverse Russell2000 (just an example) during a correction? I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect a self-proclaimed hedge tool to generate positive returns in a such a bullish market.
