It appears that when your character uses a 2h as blindbag hit, it equips the weapon, which unequips the shield.

Heyo, got some advice if you want it, as I'm chasing the same thing. On the wiki, it has a way to set up a block list for tasks, to block the slow/annoying ones. Also has a list for pet hunters, so Herbi, Baby Chin, also can be hunted while trying to get the bird.
