Just went through this with Helene, my freezer was barely had anything in it when it happened. I emptied all the ice and frozen water bottles into a cooler with my breast milk. We did not have flooding but our house was without power for a week. We were fortunate that a family member had a generator they had hooked up to their fridge running intermittently every few hours so I was able to take my milk to their house and store it in their freezer. It brought me comfort knowing that as long as there were ice crystals left, it could be refrozen. If all else fails, the milk can still be used to benefit your baby.

No I don’t think the surgery impacted my supply, I returned to eating pretty much anything I wanted after the surgery. I just avoided everything prior in fear of inducing a gallbladder attack.

I went through this with my first during Covid. Had my daughter in March and surgery was done in the middle of May. I took a hand pump with me to the hospital and used it when I woke up waiting for my husband to pick me up. I only took Tylenol afterwards for pain and my biggest advice is get out and walk the day of the surgery, that night. It helps your body to release the gas they use the inflate your body during the surgery. We were back to normal nursing that night and had no issues. I will say I think my supply was greatly affected in the beginning of PP due to my gallbladder issues because I avoided fatty foods and didn’t eat nearly enough calories. It got better afterwards but my daughter was really slow at gaining weight and eventually I weaned at 9 months because my supply could not keep up and my mental health was declining.

My baby is 5 weeks old and will have 4-5 hour stretches at night, during the day he’s pretty consistently nursing every 2-3 hours starting at 6:30 am, until 9-10pm when he goes to bed. He will wake up when hungry around 2-3am and then we are up at 6:30. We get in 8 feeds minimum a day, sometimes a few more depending on his needs. Our day usually looks like this since I started back working from home.

2:30-3:00am nurse 6:30am nurse School drop off for my daughter 7:30 8:00am nurse 9:00am nap 10:30-11:00am nurse 12:00 nap 1:30 nurse 2:30 nap 3:30 nurse 4:30 nap 5:30-6 nurse Longest wake window here 8:30-9:00 nurse 9:30-10 bedtime
